On Saturday USMC Staff Sgt. Jason Rogers, who was killed in action in Afghanistan April 7, was buried in Brandon, Mississippi.
That, by itself, is a sadly unremarkable though certainly noteworthy and solemn occasion for us to mark.
And in fact when Sgt. Rogers body returned to Brandon it was greeted by hundreds, or perhaps even thousands, of well-wishers who gathered at the roadside to honor the fallen American hero. The dashboard camera from Mississippi state trooper Elmo Townsends cruiser gives an indication of the scene last Thursday.
What is most notable about Sgt. Rogers funeral in Brandon, however, is what didnt happen.
You see, the troglodytes from Westboro Baptist Church had threatened to spew their poison at Sgt. Rogers funeral.
But the Westboro mob wasnt on the scene, and Sgt. Rogers was laid to rest without incident thank God.
Why werent there protestors?

They tried it in Charles County, MD. People lined the roads for miles - they couldn’t get anywhere near the funeral.
They will slowly fade in to the background as time goes on, here’s why.
The plan IMHO was to actually loose the court case. That way the left, and they are leftists, could then turn around and stop any and all speech that they disagreed with based on that case.
But alas it didn’t happen, and thanks be to God too that they did loose. And they should have lost for the very reason they did.
However, had they not lost we would be up shite’s creek without a paddle.
Because.... this is some post from FB that some of my friends made.
Craig, sounds as if the Kansas Krazies were handled well. Kudos go out to the people from Rankin County.
A couple of days before, one of them ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his ass waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.
And
Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.
Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any cars that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.
A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.
What amazes me is that, to date, no enterprising Marine sniper has not set up and taken out a couple of these clowns.

Or a Charles Whitman or L H Oswald......
This is true. Word to the wise, if a redneck invites you on fishing trip, be damn sure he is your FRIEND, cause catfish will eat anything.
Which seems like the only actual justice happening these days.
Word is that the Westboro crowd never showed up and that none of this happened.
Why to go Mississippi!! Honoring our fallen soldier and letting NO one get in the way of that. We, Americans, are proud of you!! Thank You!!
In Florida it’s called trolling for gators!

There is more than one way to skin a cat besides putting kitty’s head in a boot jack & yanking real hard on the tail. just saying 8*)
Because they don’t want to end up buried in a levee, that’s why.
Sounds like it was handled perfectly to me.
I guess the Westboro folks planned on Mississippians being stupid. Big mistake.
Careful there are some of their ilk here on FR.
And folks ask why I call Brandon home...
“Word is that the Westboro crowd never showed up and that none of this happened.”
According to the Brandon Police, they did show up and checked into the Red Roof Inn in Brandon on Friday, I don’t know what happened to them after that. I was with the Patriot Guard Riders and was there Thursday - Saturday and we escorted this hero’s remains every time they were moved: airport to funeral home, funeral home to church, church back to funeral home, funeral home back to church, church to cemetery.
It says “several Hundred”,, well local media had the count at 400+, I was there with the PGR, and we had counts of upwards of 700 bikes.
It was the most unbelievable sight I have been witness to.
We met Jason at the airport Thursday, and almost the entire area, including 2 - 4 lane highways were completely shutdown, with people out of their cars, flags waving, hands over hearts. I kept having a problem with my eyes blurring over.. not sure what that was.
It gave me faith in my country again. I never did see the “uglies” but i was having to concentrate so hard while riding with that many Patriots, everything went off without a hitch.
“God bless Jason and his family”

Brandon, MS.....it is the prettiest place...so nice... my brother lives there and that’s where we plan to move as soon as finances allow....I am a Texas transplant originally from southern MS but when when we move back, it will be to Brandon....Lord willing.
My step-dad is retired military and doesn’t live in Brandon, but as soon as he heard the WBC would be there, he went in case they needed “a talkin’ to” ;0) After the funeral, he said it was so awesome to see all the people there and he saw no trace of these idiots, he said “either they weren’t there, or they were properly drowned out and not even noticed” .....
OMG........this is wonderful. God bless that town. I am smiling ear to ear........there is more than one way to thwart them. Good job to all who made it happen!
