Oregon teen stabs himself to death on stage during open mic night

BEND, Ore. -- Open mic night ended in tragedy as 19-year-old Kipp Rusty Walker took his own life Thursday night at a coffee house.
While the scene shocked patrons, one of Walkers friends, who did not want to be named, told a local television station he saw it coming.
"I've been preparing for it for a while. I'm sad about it, but I think I'm in shock -- it's like a whirlwind of emotions," Walker's friend told KZTV.
Walker was playing the keyboard for a crowd of nearly 15 people at Strictly Organic Coffee Company on Bond Street when his performance took a tragic turn.
Strictly Organic's co-owner, Rhonda Ealy, told the news station she was not at the coffee house's open mic night but her staff re-counted what happened.
"It was really unclear at first what was even happening," Ealy said. "You know it is an open mic and it's a performance, people at first thought it was some sort of theater."
Patrons said Walker, who would have turned 20 in a week, stood up, said nothing -- then began stabbing himself in his chest, over and over.
In the report I read, it said the crowd cheered when they thought it was simply a “performance”, then became “horrified” when they found out it was real.
If you are cold enough to cheer the “fake” suicide of a young man, then at least have the ballz to cheer the real thing.

Tough act to follow too.
15 people is a crowd in a beatnik coffee house.
First thing I thought of.
I didn't see that in the article. I have found that more times than not when people DO report that someone may hurt himself or others, the person reporting it gets poo-pooed and told he or she is exaggerating. Sad, but true.
What lyrics is that? I’m guessing Kurt Cobain (or whatever his name was)?
That is Timothy Snackwell.
Sadly, as public awareness of the Snackwells line of products fades into the mists of time, my joke gets less and less funny.

Proving once again that at some point God shook the continent by the Mississippi River, and the fruits and nuts rolled all the way to both coasts, with Oregon catching more than their fair share...
Open mics kill people. Close ‘em!
One less polluter of the gene pool.
What an attention whore. Probably figured he’d be famous for doing this. However, that dying thing got in the way.
Depends. One of them may have been an earlier evolutionary Hominid, say a Neanderthal. Or, a Sasquatch. Or, to avoid PC problems, the phrase may have covered a little person at the show.
What I find most interesting was the juxtaposition of the number ‘15’ with the word ‘crowd’. Where was this show? A phone booth?
