Donald Trump's Solution on Gas Prices
ABC ^ | 4-18-2011 | George Stephanopoulos

Posted on 04/19/2011 5:09:26 AM PDT by italyconservative

I had a feisty 35 minute sit-down with Donald Trump today in which he dug in on the "birther" controversy, answered Club for Growth’s charge that he is a “liberal,” talked about a possible independent run and answered your questions.

But we began with his get tough approach on gas prices:

Trump: Look at what’s going on with your gasoline prices. They’re going to go to $5, $6, $7 and we don’t have anybody in Washington that calls OPEC and says, "Fellas, it’s time. It’s over. You’re not going to do it anymore." I don’t know if you saw yesterday, Saudi Arabia came out and said very strongly there’s plenty of oil. "We’re going to cut back." You know what cutting back means? They’re going to drive up the price even further.

Stephanopoulos: So, what would you do to back up that threat?

Trump: Oh, it’s so easy George. It’s so easy. It’s all about the messenger. They wouldn’t even be there if it wasn’t for us. If it weren’t for us, they wouldn’t be there. These 12 guys sit around a table and they say, "Let’s just screw the United States." And frankly, the rest of the world. …

And Trump was even more specific on what he would do with the Iraq oil fields: seize them.

"I’ve yet to hear someone explain how someone who’s “crazy” can develop into one of world’s most successful business entrepreneurs?"

Yeah, you notice those posts have died down a bit on this thread since that point was made.

It takes a long time for the unthinking to think up a reply.

That’s part of Trump’s “appeal.”

He’s one of those guys that you dislike, yet, at the same time, kinda enjoy listening to him. In high school most of us knew that one guy in our circle of friends who was an arrogant jerk, but he’d back you up when you needed him, threw great parties, and was still fun to hang out with in an odd sort of way. Plus he had a nice Trans-Am. So, he was your friend. That’s Trump.

Obama is arrogant as hell BTW. Fight fire with fire, they say.

Oh, and with a Freepname like “Opinionated Blowhard...” can you really complain?

As I said before, we NEED an arrogant prick to beat the ultimate arrogant prick in the White House.

We need leadership also and Trump has demonstrated that all his life.

“Neither are his past socialist positions for ‘single payer’ Canadian style health care or a wealth tax. Then there was his made up Royal Rumble feud with Vince McMahan on WWF Wrestling”

What’s that got to do with anything? When you are right you are right. Trump is right. We send hack politicians to negotiate with the Chinese and the Arabs. They come back with their hat in their hand. We should be sending private business people who know what they are talking about to do some tough horse trading. The world uses us as their patsy. Trump just points it out.

"Hey, the country is facing bankruptcy, and Donald is an experienced old hand on the subject. He knows how to do it! What’s not to like?"

Oh, I like the take charge attitude, I'm just not sure he is sane! Someone needs to take it to 0bama. He and Palin are the only ones, I like that. I'm just not sure America is ready to put him in charge. Time will tell.

What’s that got to do with anything?

What does past support for single-payer and a massive tax hike have to with anything? Seriously? He seems nostalgic about them. Like he'd still be for both if only the economy wasn't so bad. OR like he'd still be for them if he was trying to game the democrat base instead of us.

And he's conveniently pro-life now too. How convenient.

Trump=P. T. Barnum + Ross Perot

RE :” When you are right you are right. Trump is right. We send hack politicians to negotiate with the Chinese and the Arabs. They come back with their hat in their hand.

???? Negotiate with Arabs? What are you talking about? You mean when we buy oil on the world market ? With newly created QE1+2 money destroying our dollar? And we refuse to drill our own oil because it is a dirty process?

OPEC would just laugh at Trump and say :”If you don't like the price you don't have to use oil you stupid con man. You can drive your cars by putting Obama’s windmills on them. Were your voters that stupid as to believe we would sell you oil cheaper than others are willing to pay for it just because you promised them we would?”.

Trump could only be ‘right’ if he came up with anything that sounds serious.

I think we were talking about oil. The guy says Obamacare is a disaster and it should be repealed.

RE :” I know. It’s so funny. What would he’d do? He’d talk to them differently! Shazam! And oh by the way, let me tell you how you can get rich just by placing these tiny classified ads!

Last night at MSNBC they were dragging out all Trump's past liberal positions and saying how they liked him when he was playing socialist. Now he is playing “ I will be King of the world if you elect me ”.

This is not that much different than the Obama 2008 easy fix scams.

Cowboy Jay's Unified Craziness Theory:

Part 1: There's a big difference between 'crazy', and 'stupid'.

Part 2: Sometimes 'crazy' is actually 'sane'.

Part 3: Never play hardball with someone crazier than you are.

If Trump were to get the nod, he'd be the fittest Republican presidential candidate in 28 yrs. He scares the crap out of the MSM because he has the means to go over their heads the way Reagan did. The party has a long and storied history of nominating pandering milquetoasts over bold leaders. Executive experience is Donald's long-suit, and he's the closest thing to an actual Goldwater Conservative among the top 4-5 contenders.

OPEC would just laugh at Trump

When Trump says "you stabilize the price of oil or we will no longer insure the security of the oil fields, or your country", they won't be laughing.

"You old enough to remember these days."

Yes, I am, I sat in more than a few of those gas lines.

To compare the policies of a nutless peanut farmer (no pun intended) or a nutless community organizer to an undeclared candidate with real stones, and indicate that the results would be the same, shows your desperation.

I like where Trump says we should have Canadian style universal health care. Now THAT’S something Chuck Schumer would probably say!
