I had a feisty 35 minute sit-down with Donald Trump today in which he dug in on the "birther" controversy, answered Club for Growths charge that he is a liberal, talked about a possible independent run and answered your questions.
But we began with his get tough approach on gas prices:
Trump: Look at whats going on with your gasoline prices. Theyre going to go to $5, $6, $7 and we dont have anybody in Washington that calls OPEC and says, "Fellas, its time. Its over. Youre not going to do it anymore." I dont know if you saw yesterday, Saudi Arabia came out and said very strongly theres plenty of oil. "Were going to cut back." You know what cutting back means? Theyre going to drive up the price even further.
Stephanopoulos: So, what would you do to back up that threat?
Trump: Oh, its so easy George. Its so easy. Its all about the messenger. They wouldnt even be there if it wasnt for us. If it werent for us, they wouldnt be there. These 12 guys sit around a table and they say, "Lets just screw the United States." And frankly, the rest of the world.
And Trump was even more specific on what he would do with the Iraq oil fields: seize them.

I support this, but of course it costs more to get oil out of the ground here than Saudi Arabia. It will cost more, but there will be more jobs, too.
"Trump is a buffoon, and a magnet for suckers."
Huck, did you miss the memo?
That was the talking point two days ago, but we had to change it because buffoons usually are not billionaires.
Today's talking point is "He is Crazy".
Please try to stay in lockstep.
>>>>Perhaps what we need is a pure crazy MoFo who will lead the world to the decision that we are not to be f——d with.
My thoughts exactly. The moron in chief has us looking like pansies. ROE should be reworked to let the military do their jobs. Collateral damage? Sucks to be them.
Compared to the moron in chief, The Donald, would have my vote. Anyone, including my 79 year old mother, is more qualified than Obama to be President.
Donald Trump is on my list — but if he was the candidate, I’d be hard press to stay with the GOP! I mean, I’d rather ha\/e Palin (with Bachmann as \/P), Eric Cantor, ScoMike Pence, Alan West, George Allen, Rand Paul or a LIBERTARIAN PARTY candidate, then Donald Trump. I’d elect Trump before pHuckleberry or Hussien.
"Iraq owes ME...It's time to put someone in office who will collect... "
Exactly, our boys died to change that evil regime, the bill has come due and Donald is the guy we need to collect it.
I think the problem may be that just because he is trashing Barry and the SMM (and doing quite a good job at that) doesn't mean that we should fall behind him automatically. It is the same way that just because a rattlesnake will keep the rats away doesn't mean that it is necessarily a friend. The enemy of my enemy may not necessarily be a friend, just a force that can be used against my enemy while I rally my forces during the period when the two are mucking it out. While Trump goes after Obama, Conservatives should be putting together a team that can go against Obama and win (and by team I mean the whole nine yards ...people who will not just focus on social conservatism but also possess economic/financial acuity, plus national security adeptness, and finally an ability to communicate the message ....it has to be those four: social, financial, national security, and ability to draft a narrative. Too often different camps in the bigger Conservative arena focus on only one, without realizing all of them are needed). While Trump hammers the Administration, people should be coming up with effective stratagems.
if gas prices remain high through next fall he could attract an awful lot of Perot-type voters with that line
Trump has been saying get tough with the Saudi’s on oil for years. This is not a new position for him. I have seen him discuss it previously. I totally agree with him. I would tell the King of Saudi Arabia to give us a discount on oil or next time his little regime is in trouble lose our phone number.
We were supposed to get discount oil from Iraq as a payback for liberating them from Hussein. Then all of a sudden that deal went away. We should get reimbursed for at least a portion of our outlay on that war. After all we have done and lost lives in Iraq I do not want to see Iran taking over those oil fields as soon as we leave.
With $1.5 trillion in repayment from Iraq we could repay the entire $950 billion we owe the Chinese and still go out to dinner.
"So we're going to take all the world's oil for force if need be."
A better idea would be to go over to the Saudi's and bow down to them and ask politely if we can have some oil.
How's that working for you so far?
Trump want to lock down the border...Keep illegals out...Trump wants to put a tariff on Chinese goods, to encourage people to make things in America again...Trump wants 'fair' trade, not free trade...Trump wants American Presidents to be American...On and on and on...Trump is anti globalism and New World Order...Trump seems to be pro America...
I have no use for a conservative Globalist...And I won't vote for someone who claims to be one...
Bring it on Trump...I'll vote for ya....
Those who Trump dislikes are those who got the best of him in a deal.
That would include the Saudi’s and the Chinese.
He will not admit his failing. Being a Manhattan New Yorker he is best of best in the world. They surely showed him to be wrong and he hates them for it.
Off the island........ he is out of his league
"if gas prices remain high through next fall he could attract an awful lot of Perot-type voters with that line"
If by "Perot-type voters" you mean Americans that are sick of the same lamea$$ GOP candidates, you are correct.
I don't have a link but that's exactly what George said...
The anti-Trump whiners and other assorted castrati conveniently forget that this is one of the reasons the American people, and Congress, agreed to the invasion of Iraq. Just like the Kuwait war, we should be reimbursed.
"Off the island........ he is out of his league"
I'm not sure which "deal" you are referring to.
Can you name me one GOP candidate that has dealt directly with the Saudi's and the Chinese and won?
I would say, that Donald is defiantly in his league, it would seem that all of the Presidents have lost that "deal".
That would include the Saudis and the Chinese.
Please, give us details.
I’m all for what Trump is doing, but he’s more of a sideshow to the main event. Part of me thinks that he’s being put up to this, and I’m hoping that conservatives are being cautious with their adoption of him.
George W Bush did all right
