The attack came a day after Obama savaged Republican budget plans and unveiled his $4-trillion deficit reduction drive that aims to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans in order to preserve key social services.The debate over fiscal policy will prove critical to the 2012 campaign and Obama sought to frame it as a "stark choice" between investing in the future or watching the country fall apart.
"Under their vision, we can't invest in roads and bridges and broadband and high-speed rail," Obama told a select group of the Democratic faithful at the second of three fundraising events in his hometown of Chicago.
"I mean, we would be a nation of potholes, and our airports would be worse than places that we thought -- that we used to call the Third World, but who are now investing in infrastructure."
Republicans plans to shrink the reach of government is "not a vision that's impelled by the numbers" but a "choice" to give a trillion dollars in tax breaks to the rich rather than ask those who've been "blessed" to "give a little more."
"Not a vision that's impelled by the numbers? Is he serious? I guess a $1.6 trillion deficit this year, with trillion dollar plus deficits out as far as the eye can see is not very "compelling" to our Profligate in Chief. What's more compelling to him is that some people don't have broadband to download his speeches faster. Or his union buddies won't have all that federal cash to build idiotic, wasteful transportation projects like high speed rail. Or his friends in the teachers unions won't have as much cash to invest in Democratic party races.
This is a game ill-suited to the likes of Boehner and McConnell. The GOP candidate who can counterpunch the hardest will probably be the nominee. But time's a wasting and Obama's charges are laying out there with no adequate response from Republicans.
As far as Obama's savagery, get used to it. He is going to run on a fabric of lies, raising the class warfare card early and often in order to attempt to get the gullible, the resentful, the envious, and his far left wing base on board and ride it all the way to a second term.
Meanwhile, Obama takes off the gloves while the GOP is still in the salon getting their nails done.

And the European nations are trying to encourage the U.S. to take the same fall they have been in the process of taking. They are on a bad course, which unless hopefully reversed, will make them among the Third World as well.

How sad that even our president doesn’t know what “third world” means. If I may, the term was coined after WWII to describe those countries which were neither aligned with the “free” world nor the communist. Thus, the free, communist and the third world. The term has nothing to do with wealth or poverty.
BO has already turned us into a Fourth World country. Moving up to Third would be progress.

Just from the Headline... what the hell, we are a third world country...
Let’s see.
Most of our manufactured goods come from overseas. We depend on foreign oil because we are no longer permitted to drill for our own. We don’t build much in the way of capital projects anymore due to onerous regulations and contradictory permitting processes, and what does make it past those is usually stopped by environmental nut cases.
We’ve allowed our once-remarkable nation to be overrun with illiterate, uncivilized, diseased people from real third-world countries, and the government bends over backward to let them do whatever they please and gives them anything they want at the taxpayers expense.
Our kids get a fifth-rated education from liberally brainwashed teachers and the most important subjects taught are tolerance, diversity, and getting in touch with your feelings. Oh, and sex, of course. Mostly gay sex. Our young people are miles behind most of the world in math, science, civics, and critical thinking.
So, yup, I guess Obama is right, except for it being the fault of Republicans. That part still has my mouth hanging open.
