Trump addresses tea party crowd in Boca Raton (hundreds gathered)

Sounding increasingly like a candidate, Donald Trump repeatedly told a raucous tea party crowd today he has the qualities needed in the White House and the conservative ideals necessary to seal the Republican nomination should he decide to run.

Trump struck familiar themes and talked about his own business acumen in his speech to hundreds gathered at a park here, where his name festooned signs, buttons and T-shirts of supporters. The real estate mogul even talked about the type of people he'd have serve as diplomats and said he was looking forward to releasing his financial disclosures.

"Most very successful people, the kind of people that we need running our country, don't want to be scrutinized and abused," he said. "This is the kind of person that this country must have right now."

He derided President Barack Obama, calling him the worst to occupy the White House in history. He again questioned whether the president was born in the U.S., even though the fact has been affirmed by officials in Hawaii, where Obama was born. And he maligned China, saying the U.S. should take control of Iraqi oil and described American infrastructure as third world.

Trump ticked through a number of issues seen as bedrocks for conservative candidates, saying he is anti-abortion, against gun control and wants to repeal Obama's health care law. Throughout the speech, he portrayed the U.S. as a nation in decline and himself as its potential savior.

I support the man’s ideas which resemble most closely that of the founders of our Republic. You support RINOs and continually vote for them expecting something other than the results you get. You keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. That defines insanity.

Then you are truly insane for supporting Ron Paul, over and over expecting a different result.

I did not say I support Ron Paul. I said I support his ideas as they are far better than the ideas of the RINOS you vote for.

Now that I know you are a RINO supporter I would like to offer you a chance to renew your mind so you can grasp the truth when you see it.

Have you ever read the Bible?

Do you believe in the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ?

If not I can lead you to saving faith and among other things the renewing of your mind.

Are you interested?

Trump is an entertainer. More Democrat than GOP. Sarah loves the truth and she is tough and trustworthy.

Why is Trump such a late comer to the Tea Party. Why was he not there yesterday? He is USING the Tea Party.

“It is a sign of weakness to give money to Dem candidates, just as it is a sign of weakness for a businessman to pay protection money to the mafia. Note these two are really the same thing.”

Good point.

“I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Trump runs ..”

Oh, he’ll run alright, but it might be 3rd party, and then we get Obama for four more miserable years. Can our country withstand this?

“…“I am very conservative,” said Mr. Trump. “The concern is if I don’t win [the GOP primary] will I run as an independent, and I think the answer is probably yes.” Mr. Trump said he thought he “could possibly win as an independent,” adding, “I’m not doing it for any other reason. I like winning.”’

Trump KNOWS a 3rd party, particularly a so-called “conservative,” like Perot presented himself as, will help Obama.

Is Trump a Trojan horse?

An egomaniac?

Trying to tell us that if we don’t vote for him, he will punish us by ruining the election?

All of the above?

Trump is an entertainer and a brand. He just boosted the brand name.

He’s like the guy who writes books or has late night infomercials about how to get rich buying real estate or trading stocks.

You get rich not by doing that, but getting people to pay attention to you and sell books.

Just ask Snookie. It’s brilliant!

Hollow. But brilliant.

(Change at Jamaica) LIRR
Right you are.

When one rides the Long Island Railroad into Manhattan from Long Island, one has to change trains at Jamaica to proceed into Penn Station.
And then in reverse.
First, back in the day, it was the steam engines, but not into Penn Station!
Then came the diesel engines, but there was still the change at Jamaica.
Because the trains were/are electric going into Penn from Jamaica, yes?
And eventually you’re underground.

You know all this, but thought I’d explain for others.
Sad, but on 9-11, commuters could see the WTC buildings every now and again for just a bit from the train before they got to Jamaica.

BTW - The LIRR is a terrific way to get around. Trains run all the time.

Long Island Memories - - - My favorite place to swim is the Long Island Sound. Have never found another place I like as much. Forget the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Give me just about any North Shore Beach.
When I’m back on L.I. (and I never pronounced it ‘Lawn Guyland’!) in the summer, I try to get to the Sound.

Since I was young living on Long Island (I moved after 20 years there), any town 8 miles away was basically a million miles away! So I didn’t really know what was going on, except if I heard my parents talking.
And Jamaica did not have a good reputation in the 50’s.
We went there maybe every 2 years to do some clothes shopping, before Hicksville had a small mall.

Sure I remember collect calls! Had a few occasions to use ‘code talk!’ Funny “May Jamaica.”

So Jamaica gets bragging rights on D. Trump.

The Trump thing is getting interesting. Loving how he is talking tough. It’s partially the Noo Yawk ‘brusqueness’ - and getting the job done.
Can only imagine 1600 PA Ave. right now!

With apparent ignorance of his support for universal health care. But, hey! He's the flavor of the week!

Although this was the third annual Boca Raton Tea Party, it turned into a pep rally for Trump.
What with all the people with signs and buttons for Trump. One poster correctly called it a Trump-o-rama.

Hi Friend,
I had stated here on FR how I liked what Trump had been saying during his many TV interviews. He has been saying many things I agree with and it is obvious that many Freepers agree with those comments too. It is also obvious that many Freepers do not trust Donald Trump due to his comments and actions in the past, and I am also having many doubts about Trump's motives.

My hubby and I attended the event in Boca Raton where Donald Trump appeared. We were interested to see him in person, but would have gone to the Tea Party Tax Day Rally regardless if Trump was appearing because Congressman Allen West and Adam Hasner were going to speak.

Now that I have heard Donald Trump in person, I think his TV interviews were scripted. Donald Trump made several of the same comments he has made over and over during his many TV appearances, but needed to READ THEM off notes during his Boca Raton appearance yesterday. Means what? That those comments and beliefs/stands on issues perhaps are not from his heart. When one is compassionate about something, they don't need notes to read their “true-felt” opinions.

I do not agree that the rally became a support Trump rally. Although there were many folks there who agreed with his comments, the one who REALLY rocked the crowd was our much loved Florida Congressman, Allen West!

Listen to the video below and see what I mean! The video was taken by a Florida friend and jumps a bit, but the audio is very clear. You will see how Allen West speaks straight from the heart with no notes. The notes you see in Allen's hand was a copy of Ovomit’s speech from last week. Allen used it to read Ovomit’s quotes,as Allen made comments about Ovomit’s speach.

Congressman Allen West - 04/16: http://www.casttv.com/video/nbzl9hf/allen-west-speech-boca-raton-florida-tea-party-April-16-2011-video

We also heard Adam Hasner speak and like Allen, he speaks from the heart and leaves you knowing he really believes what he says and means what he says...straight from the heart. Many Floridians, including my hubby and I, are looking forward to seeing Adam Hasner face Bill Nelson in 2012!

My hubby and I are hoping that Allen West gets angry enough with what is going on that he comes to realize that HE is the one America needs to run for President NOW rather than later! Just one debate between Allen West and Ovomit would be enough to make Americans elect Allen West as our President for 8 years!

But he said something yesterday that makes him sound conservative! Therefor he must “have seen the light” and be looking out of all of us.

I am thoroughly enjoying the discomfort that Trump is causing Obongo Bozo!

HST, I’ll in no way, shape or form support Trump for President!

He is just as arrogant and condescending as Obongo, and almost as irritating to look at and listen to.

Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame, Donald, and then exit stage left. Leave Conservative politics to Real Conservatives!

Its 3 business bankruptcies if that’s allegedly true.

That compares favorably to Tom Jefferson's 5 personal bankruptcies. Anyone on FR say that Jefferson was unfit for the office? And, BTW...Jefferson's were all personal not business. In his personal life he simply made a habit of continually spending more money than he ever had on hand.

As far as being a conservative, Trump isn't the real deal fer sure.

The reason for the wording of my post was to emphasize the fact that Trump is drawing all the air out of the room where ever he shows up.

He is drawing attention away from the real Conservatives such as West.

West gave a fantastic speech, but it wasn't headlined even here at Free Republic that I saw.

Even though he was “the one who REALLY rocked the crowd”, Trump got most of the attention media-wize, even here at FR.

Thanks for the first person report (and the welcomed “correction”) I thought you would be there!

Trump is the big shiny thing we are all supposed to be distracted by and to some
degree it is working.

We all know what he is, we just have not established the price.

How true Hat Chick!

Trump is excessive bling, a Qubic Zirconium being passed off as a diamond. (and scores of FR posters are trying like crazy to shine up the imitation.)

No thanks, I like shiny things but prefer sincerity.

; > )

The Donald is lovin' the attention and it's cool how he is taking on issues no one else will touch. That's about it though, he will go *poof* when he has gotten all he can off of the adulation.
