golly.. I hope NOT.. Galt/Johansson is GORGEOUS..
that is wonderful. I just read your intro & not all the comments where that may have been mentioned. I hope that you publish this. let us know!
love it.. going to put it on my FB page! thanks Joe!
One more question if you don’t mind (since I don’t have plans to see it until tomorrow). Did they keep the cigarette smoking in the film (since it does play a role in the book)?
Disappointed that it has a very limited showing in this area. Planning to see it Sunday....
not much cigarette smoking, only time I noticed was when Hugh Akston lights up a $ marked cig when Dagny confronts him at his Diner...
Here is a good review by a fan that I agree with...

yes on cig smoking BUT it is easy to not “get it” w/o reading the book
Thanks so much and for withholding just enough to not need a ***SPOILER*** tag. :)
As you probably have figured out from our occasional interaction, most of my film viewing is from TCM or DVD rentals. Atlas Shrugged will be my first trip to a cinema house/palace since the release of United 93 just about 5 years ago.
I try to not give spoilers.. I think you will enjoy your trip to movie for this one. Glad we were able to go to the first showing.. (only 5.00)
There was another type of spoiler.. a group of us went to late lunch afterward & were discussing film & movie & one of the men mentioned he had not read the book yet & so he had all sorts of spoilers!!!!
Once I learned the author was an atheist...I lost complete interest in this movie...
You didn’t know Ayn Rand was an atheist? She was famously outspoken about it.
Dick Cheny of course.
Went to the 12:25 showing in Duluth also. We heard Neal Boortz on the way to the theater say that they were going to have two screens. Great crowd and appreciative applause at the end.
Very enjoyable and I wasn’t disappointed. I thought the characters fit their roles perfectly. Anyone not having read the book may have trouble following the story - fitting everything into place.
Will wait anxiously for Part II and III.
“”The way things are going we won’t be allowed to watch Atlas Shrugged in 2016 and beyond.””
OUCH! Hopefully it will be completed long before then. It took someone 54 years to decide to make a movie of it so they’re on a roll now. Hope it makes bazillion bucks!!!!
Yes, I noticed that, too. It was real joy that was EARNED.
I saw it at a matinee today and one thing that was lovely was the owner of the theater came down front and center before the film started and spoke to the audience. He said that when he first heard the movie was going to come out he contacted them and was told they were having a lot of problems finding a distributor for it. He asked if he could help with the distribution in any way because he loved the book. Basically he said it wasn't easy getting this film. It was a very nice touch.
On a scale of one to five, I give this movie, production-wise, acting-wise, & script-wise, a three. On the actual story, I give it a five out of five. I haven't read the book (well, I've tried several times but only got about 100 pages in), so I'm really looking forward to the next part of the movie so I can find out what happens next.
