Obama predicts: 'American people will feel that I deserve a second term' By Michael O'Brien - 04/15/11 02:59 PM ET
President Obama said Friday that he's convinced that voters will come to see him as the candidate best prepared to serve as president by next fall's elections.
The president said he thinks that he can make the case for a second term, though he acknowledged that the state of the economy could be his biggest hurdle to clear in winning reelection.
"I think the economy's going to continue to improve, and I think I'm going to be able to make an effective case that ... I am the person who is best prepared to finish the job so that we are on track to succeed in the 21st century," Obama said in a video interview this morning with The Associated Press.
"I think I can make that case, and I think that, in the debates that take place over the next 18 months, the American people will feel that I deserve a second term," Obama added.
The president launched his campaign earlier this month by filing paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to formally indicate he would seek a second term. Obama advanced that effort with a trio of fundraisers last night in his adoptive hometown of Chicago, the city where his reelection effort will be headquartered.
Obama enjoys an early advantage over most of the Republicans vying for the nomination to challenge him in 2012, but polls suggest that the president doesn't enjoy broad support on the issue he says is most important: the economy. In a poll released on Friday, Gallup found Obama's approval rating stood at 41 percent, an all time low. Gallup said the figure was fueled by economic dissatisfaction.
"I think that my biggest concern, when it comes to reelection, is my biggest concern as president of the United States, which is our economy moving fast enough to give people the kind of relief that they need," Obama said.
As for the biggest strength Obama believes he has heading into 2012? He said it was his "confidence in the American people."
Oh yes 4$ gas will certainly make you popular again, not.
With Perot as a spoiler pretty much ensuring that.
I've kind of got to agree with El Cid when it comes to the blessing and curses in the Old Testament Law, of course that is assuming that is what El Cid is referring too.
please explain how you see El Cid statement as blasphemy, are you saying the Old Testament Law is only valid for the Old Testament Israel
For the record I don't want to take up the position that God is cursing or blessing United States at the moment. El Cid though does make a assumption that I'm not sure I would totally consent to and that is that America is being cursed, am I correct El Cid.
Why dont we just skip the election and assume he would get reelected by a landslide and just keep him?
((((
I wish that I felt confident enough to dismiss your remark as sarcastic; it may be prophetic.
IDIOT!
Only those who are demonstrably deranged or mentally defective.
Alas, it’s a fairly large group.
Believe as you wish and I will also.
NObama deserves a whole lot of things——but a 2nd term ain’t even on my list.
As for the biggest strength Obama believes he has heading into 2012? He said it was his "confidence in the stupidity of the American people."
There. Fixed it.
My goodness. If God ever gives us what we deserve, we’ll be sorry. We deserve death.
All authority is granted by God. He has a purpose for every leader He puts in power. It has nothing to do with what we deserve and everything to do with His plan.
Feelings, oh, oh, oh, feelings. All style, no substance. Typical leftist/communist/socialist/marxist drival.
Try this bast*ard in court, convict him and his henchmen, and sentenced them to jail. Don't forget this, America.
Feel that, obozo. What ever it takes to rid this pestilence from OUR White House.
You always have a choice.
Let us just hope that the Republicans don’t come up with another John McCain. If they offer someone from the elitist ranks that they seem to like to pull from (Newt Gingrich, John McCain, etc.,) they will be grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. We need new blood (of a tea-party mode). Haley Barbour may be a viable candidate. Pawlenty is out - merely by virtue of sitting by silently and letting the Dems steal the election in Minnesota at a time when the result would be a filibuster proof majority - we need a fighter and he isn’t it. I don’t pretend to be an expert, but based on past experience, the Republicans aren’t either. We need someone with experience - either a Mayor or Governor but NOT someone who spent his life in the Senate or the House and whose experience consists merely of standing behind a podium and blowing smoke without every having been held individually responsible for the results of their choices.
This is the part I like best: riding the first wave of adoration, Ohaha stashed zillions looted from the Treasury for himself (and endangered Dems)-----figuring he'd be reelected by acclamation (that would explain all those campaign donations).
Now, as support flounders, the con artists in the WH have to dream up a way to explain away "the nation's first billion dollar candidate" (as Ohaha bills himself). LOL. Ohaha's gangster government is sipping a lot of tea trying to figure out what to do.
=============================================
THE FLOPS SO FAR Obama's so-called "2012 fundraising network" and his billion dollar campaign warchest are phonies. He claims to be the first billion dollar candidate---but take it from me----it won't be from "campaign donations" and "fund-raisers." After two years in office, Obama's got zillions stashed offshore (looted from the US Treasury during the infamous trillion dollar "bailouts"). Ohaha's gonna be wire-transferring like crazy to save himself and endangered Dems--after the debacle of Midterms.
ITEM Obama held an "intentionally small" DNC fund-raiser dinner at the Red Rooster in Harlem last week-----maaning they couldn't even giveaway tickets to the $30,000 per head funder.
ITEM Obama's recent Boston fundraiser started out as a $5,000 a plate then dropped to $500 a plate ... but he still could not fill the roomOhaha ended up talking to a little over 100 people.
ITEM Remember, Ohaha raised a whopping $750 million for his 2008 presidential bid----- purportedly from "anonymous foreign donors" who flooded his 2008 campaign with hundreds of thousands of relatively small, untraceable illegal donations.
====================================
Can you wait to see the cover story Ohahas come up with for all those "campaign donations?"
Reminds me of the excellent book---"Flawless"----about the $$$half billion Antwerp diamond heist. The crooks couldn't spend it, of course, without calling attention to themselves. So they had to invent a highly visible money-maker to account for their spending.......they pretended a multi-million dollar movie deal about their heist was in the works.
Yup--a movie about Ohaha and Moochelle might do it..... "For A Few Dollars More"--- The Sequel."
ROTFL.
A second prison term, yeah, sure.
I am soooo waiting for the opportunity to see this douchebag bounced out of office.
Hopefully, we’ll get someone with the chutzpah to prosecute his arse for [ insert any executive crime ] and watch him rot in jail.
He really must think Americans are masochistic gluttons for punishment.
Blasphemy:
1) impious utterance or action concerning god or sacred things.
2) an act of cursing or reviling God.
3) the crime of assuming to oneself the rights or qualities of God.
4) irreverent behavior toward anything held sacred, priceless, etc.: He uttered blasphemies against life itself.
Can you expand as to what in Post 30 you consider "Blasphemy"?
The united States is not Old Testament Israel.
True...
What is your point?
Are you saying the Old Testament has been rendered nonexistent by the New Testament?
Or does the Old Testament only apply to Israel? ... Except for the Book of Job ... That only applies to Job?
Was the Shepherd referenced in Psalm 23 - only David's Shepherd, and not ours? When David wrote in Psalm 29 that the LORD is my Light and my Salvation -- was this applicable only to David? I suppose he did use the word "my" a lot...
Why did the Apostles reference Old Testament scripture?
When the Lord Jesus Christ was said to have said in Hebrews 10, "in the volume of the book it is written of me...", was it "fair" for HIM to have referenced the "book" (the Old Testament) ... since this book applies only to Israel?
