Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement on tomorrow’s House vote on the Republican budget:
“The vote you’ll cast tomorrow presents a clear choice between millionaires and the middle class. Whose side are you on?
“It will also answer for the country this question: Are Republicans serious about reducing the deficit, or are they going to continue pretending we can do it without asking millionaires, billionaires and corporations to pay their fair share?
“Our federal budget is like any family’s budget in that there are two columns: what we take in and what we spend. We can’t have a serious conversation about balancing the budget until Republicans stop pretending that the ledger has only one side.”

Nevadans must be so proud to be represented by this intellectual giant. Texas has Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, but she comes from a Black district in Houston, while Dingy Harry represents the entire state of Nevada. Pitiful.

The federal budget isn't like a family budget. My family budget has to include putting away extra money for retirement because (unlike Harry) I know Social Security won't be there for me.

Hey, I read that as Harry giving me carte blanche to print as much of my own currency as I want.
Once again, the GOP is letting the dems frame the debate. And lets be honest, the debt ceiling will be raised, it has to be right now.
What would happen if it wasn't?
If Harry Reid or any other lib were to talk to me like that, I would rearrange his face.

Why does he care how the ‘Pubbies vote? He HAS a Democrat majority. Unless the bill can be filibustered, it should be sure thing.

No... it does not... but raising it is the EASY thing to do... and the cowardly republican leadership will ALWAYS do the easy thing. It is less confrontational... and wimps hate confrontation. Some do cry however.
