Customs agents at O'Hare International Airport have seized more than 1,700 "high quality" counterfeit driver's licenses that have been shipped from China this year.

The licenses were for the states of Illinois, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Most of them were addressed to college students and were apparently ordered online.

"Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are conducting investigations regarding some of the intended recipients," Customs officials said. “Our greatest concern is the ease at which these high quality fakes can be ordered over the Internet."

In some cases, the counterfeit licenses were shipped in envelopes, in others they were hidden inside shipments of electronic and gift items,..

Here’s an idea - get the big foot of the federal government out of the drinking age business and magically, the phony ID scam will go away.

Just come to New Mexico and get a ‘real’ one. The New Mexican ‘RATS’ LOVE illegals, criminals and terrorist and want them to feel welcome here so they love to hand out license to who ever wants one.

....listed his height as 54 feet...

That's funny!

I'm wondering if these DL are used to register to vote.

Seems more to me like these drivers licenses are more suited for voter fraud.

Those states tend to be a lot of “swing states”

It’s generally easier for kids to get illegal drugs than it is for them to get beer under the age of 21. Prohibition has been made a byword for policies not only destined to fail when they are out of alignment with most people’s sense of justice, but likely to encourage an acceptance of illegality in general that persists even after repeal of the prohibition measure. And that’s what this is: fractional prohibition - three or so years of it, when kids in Europe can have wine or beer from about 16, which is about when most kids here start anyway regardless of the law; in Canada and Australia it’s 18 for that and for hard liquor. We have soldiers risking their lives who can’t even legally order a beer during their r ‘n r.

True. I just think as a business case, the great lion's share of demand for these fake driver's licenses come from kids wanting to buy booze. Yes, fake DLs are problematic at the polling station, and there is some demand by illegals, but without the college kids, demand falls precipitously.

We are going to have fraud at the polling station until we have some kind of biometric screen that compares a biometric signature of the person who is registered to vote, to the person who is actually voting. And, that still doesn't do much to combat the fraud of absentee ballots.

I'm wondering if these DL are used to register to vote.

It's called Motor/Voter and President Zero was responsible for getting it passed into law.

No, no. A fake driver's license would do absolutely be no benefit in the Motor-Voter process. In MV, you're allowed to register to vote when applying for, or renewing your driver's license.

You walk into a dmv with a fraudulent DL, you're not going to get very far trying to renew it, let alone trying to register to vote for it.

Oh, and the National Voter Registration Act was signed by Clinton in 1993. Obama didn't have anything to do with it. He was barely out of law school at the time, and I don't think he had even begun his community organizing "career" yet.

Motor Voter was an idea created by, and largely pushed by Francic Piven and Richard Cloward(sp?), not coincidentally.

When you go to register to vote (I’m not talking about at the DMV) and need to show your drivers license (as in WI) wouldn’t this be proof of residency?

Don’t forget to charge the people who ordered the fake licenses with participating in counterfeiting.Seriously.They SHOULD pay a penalty.

Better yet, let’s just make all crime legal, then we could fire all the lawyers, judges, police, wheeeeeeeeee.

Each generation takes to excess, what the previous generation accepted in moderation.

Jimmy Carter by the way was for pot decriminilization, he also pardoned all the draft dodgers that went to Canada. He was by the way criticized by both parties for being too Christian, after all his sister was a Faith Healing Preacher.

I don't know about all states, but in my state of FL, a phony DL wouldn't do you any good because the register's office actually pulls your driver's license abstract. That's how they know it's legitimate. In fact, you can actually register by mail in FL, so long as you provide that driver's license number.
