A new CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll shows that over the last month, while billionaire Donald Trump repeatedly was raising questions about Barack Obama's eligibility to be president – and even suggesting his tenure might be illegal – he's been rocketing in popularity among possible GOP presidential contenders.
At the same time, oxygen has been sucked out of the support for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who both essentially have ignored that particular issue facing the American voting public.
According to CNN's results, 19 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents questioned say they'd be most likely to support Trump to be the 2012 GOP nominee.
The same percentage back former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who has left the eligibility questions alone by saying there are other larger problems with which to deal.
Twelve percent say they would support former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the 2008 vice presidential nominee, while Romney and Gingrich each were at 11 percent.

I wouldn’t necessarily equate the attention he’s getting on the issue with popularity.
You cannot even get a drivers license or marriage license with the certification of live birth Hussein presented.

Ann Coulter’s popularity has declined proportionally.
Because Trump is asking questions a lot of us would like to have answered.
The only one that can make this go away if POTUS...and all he has to do is release the birth certificate and while hes at it all of the academic records...then we can move on to substantive issues like the economy and deficit.

The man comes out on the right side on one issue and suddenly he can do no wrong. There are a lot of people dying for someone to take charge, but it must be the right man for the age.

He can do lots wrong, and I don't want him for President.
If he can take out Barry with a few months of pretence of running for President, though, I'm all for it.
He has said he would militarize the Southern border. He said that the flow of illegals must be stopped.

I think I would.
The issue is actually, solely responsible for his populariy right now. He has made parrots out of the rest of the field who now repeat what he says. Trump is not however, repeating anything of what they say. His experience, confidence, competence, and gravitas are stealing their thunder.
That’s easy for him to do because in the end, he won’t actually run. The things he says don’t bother me. The fact people take him seriously as a candidate does.
