To encourage healthful eating, Chicago school doesn't allow kids to bring lunches or certain snacks from home and some parents, and many students, aren't fans of the policy
A Little Village Academy student cringes at an enchilada dish served at his school. Many students throw away their entrees uneaten and say they would rather bring food from home. The school, though, does not allow students to bring in their own lunches, unless they have a medical condition or a food allergy.

I have no pity for the people suffering this totalitarian oppression. Chicago has the government they deserve.
Principal Elsa Carmona said her intention is to protect students from their own unhealthful food choices.
What is the nutritional value of an uneaten lunch?
“The school, though, does not allow students to bring in their own lunches, unless they have a medical condition or a food allergy.”
WHAT?!!!
When I went to school, I could bring lunches, or buy them whenever I pleased on any given day. On a given day, I usually decided to bring my own, because I hated waiting in line, then deciding to eat afterwards.
Well, I guess this is Chicago though.
Moochelle’s meddling into what kids can and can’t eat at school....Any Chicago area freepers up for a day of civil disobediance? Hand out Brownies and choc. chip cookies dressed in your best tea party gear! LOL....
The schools depend on the federal school lunch cash... can’t have kids who want better tasting food derailing the gravy train.
This is all about E-Rate funding. If they’re not an 85% or above school, no Priority 2 funding.....
Nutritional value has nothing to do with it. It’s the people getting paid to supply the lunches that are gaining the value. Someone is getting a kick back.
If the federal government paid fifty cents more to eat sand, it would be in every kid's diet throughout the land and celebrated as the new health initiative. China tried that about 75 years ago and a few billion people died.
Great. Government protecting us from ourselves.
Well that explains the Enchilada’s on the menu. What are the odds the Gubermint folks, and Schools officials are getting kickbacks from the food providers....nah...not in Chicago.
Follow the money.
Ping!!!
Agree.....
They should complain to Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. Oh, that’s right, he’s just part of the problem.
So now we know how some of the students in her school pass to upper grades without real qualifications: the school must be answering their multiple choice test questions for them to protect them from getting the wrong answers.
Cradle to grave control.
I guess students in her school are just too dumb and ignorant to survive without such assistance.

If I were a parent this thing would set off red lights all over the place.
