Laborers, carpenters, electricians, machinists, sheet metal workers, police officers, firefighters, teachers, actors, writers and pharmacists from Illinois and surrounding states marched from corners of the Loop, waving pro-union banners and chanting We are one.
From the stage, organizers warned that workers in other states, including Illinois, could face union-busting legislation similar to the Wisconsin law and urged them to be prepared.
We didnt pick this fight. We didnt start this fight, USAction President William McNary said. But if its a fight you want, its a fight you are going to get.

Civil rights activist and former union leader Bill Lucy called on members to band together to remove the temporary governor of Wisconsin and repeal the union-busting law he labeled a certain brand of evil.
Brothers and sisters, I dont know what ship you may have come over on, but we are in the same boat now, Lucy said of the looming threat that other states might follow Wisconsins lead. We will not give up. We will not give out. We will not give in.
Wisconsin state Sen. Chris Larson, who spent 22 days in Chicago with fellow lawmakers to try to block a vote on the bill that killed collective bargaining rights , warned workers that those rights are at risk nationwide.
Thats why Chicago Ald. Joe Moore (49th) attended the rally.
Listen, theyre doing it in Wisconsin now, and theyll do it in Illinois next, he said. We have to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Wisconsin and be ready.

-——They have no idea why Obama is not the greatest thing since sliced bread-——
Then there is the sliced bread problem. Bread is sold by weight. With the increase in the price of wheat and energy for baking, bread makers, that is American bakers who make a product labeled sliced bread, have made cost cutting maneuvers. They increased the moisture content. The water to flour weight has increased.
Many years ago they sold the public the notion that increased moisture, that is water, produced superior batted whipped bread. Many sliced breads and various buns are literally dough that can be squeezed into a ball right out of the wrapper.
The Sarah Lee products seem to be immune from this chicanery.
Oh, hell. If this kind of across-the-cheese-curtain sympathy continues, they’re gonna KILL the Packers/Bears rivalry.
Meanwhile, we need to get CCW passed in Wisconsin, to reduce the probability that the union thugs will get out of hand. A mob of thugs can thump an unarmed individual with impunity -- an armed man will give pause to even a large group of thugs.
Thomas Sowell wrote a couple of great books about that:
The Vision of the Anointed: Self-Congratulation as a Basis for Social Policy , and
A Conflict of Visions: Ideological Origins of Political Struggles
Both of the above should be in any Freeper's home library. (or at least check them out at the public library)
Thousands of gravy train supporters rally downtown (Chicago) for Wis. slackers.Wonder much the union paid them to do so?.
Like a beheaded snake that writhes violently to no avail.
They need a course in:
Fiscal Sanity One oh! One
Places with major organized crime presence really hate CCW. It makes it harder for thugs to intimidate people when their targets are armed and trained.
Every dollar they spend on rallies, is a dollar they will lack in 2012.
Passing CCW in Wisconsin will make CCW easier in Illinois.
I hope your right. It’s been a long time coming!
The trouble is, we have a gun hating, tax, and tax, and spend governor.
More pointedly, "One what?"
Union money flows to whichever elections in the country seem most important. Reduce the size of the union cash pile, and it becomes harder for them to swing marginal elections. Eventually, Illinois will fall.
I sure hope so!
SEEMS they can't find enough UNION thugs in their own state!! There's the rub,folks... there's the rub!!!
Thank you Papa Bear.
Great links!
I especially recommend “A Conflict of Visions” for anybody trying to understand the Leftist mind.
No problem they will just shake down it’s memebers for more cash.
