ABC News White House reporter Jake Tapper wrote on Twitter this evening:

"Talking to a Vietnam Navy Vet who says Swift Boat veterans now call themselves "River Boat" vets bc of 2004 campaign."

Tapper did not explain what about the 2004 campaign--John Kerry or the group that challenged Kerry's Vietnam service record, the Swift Boats Vets and POWs for Truth--have caused them to change how they describe themselves.

What I find kinda sad about this is if the media did their jobs, there never would have been a need for “swiftboating.”

These are American heroes who did the job the media refused to do.

Kerry's lead attack dog against the Swift Vets was Wade Sanders, a retired Navy captain and former Swift Boat officer who was frequently mentioned as a possible Secretary of Defense for President Kerry. Sanders has always been eager to say vicious things about the Swift Vets - he even blamed them when he was convicted of child porn charges a couple of years ago. Sanders is serving 37 months in Federal prison and has lots of time available to answer questions.

Never heard anything else about it, did you? The media preferred to maintain the "debunked" narrative, rather than report the truth.

It just astounds me that anybody in the profession could be so overtly duplicitous. If I were involved, I'd be ashamed.

WRT a comment about the Wade Sanders conviction on the swifties website, John Garamendi is and always has been a liberal Democrat, never a “GOP Lt. Governor.” He is presently the congressional rep for my district, even though he has never lived within it.
