Huge spin in ‘95 was the closing of the parks.

There wasn’t 20% under employment and 1.6 trillion deficits back then though.

Sure, we should condmen our children to financial ruin so we won’t disrupt anyone’s current vacation.

I would much rather save my entire country for my children and grandchildren, than spend a week at Yellowstone...comparing the two is apples and oranges and such a notion eminates directly from STUPIDITY.

And, if any of them wanted to vacation at Yellowstone National Park, “you're out of luck,” Obama said. “You may have to figure out if you can get your money back,” he said.

Get your money back from planning a trip to Yellowstone? From where?

Exactly how does Obama think most people vacation?

Why should the parks close? No services, sure, but no reason to lock the gate either.

"Miles from Washington, President Obama on Wednesday tried to persuade people that they should care about keeping the government open — because if it shuts down, they won’t be able to walk around national parks."

LOL! Okay, it's a deal! The federal government social program rackets know that they're dependent for now on revenues from seasonal tourism: much of our "service industry." ...then the winter holidays.

But listen to Pickens. Oil will go up, and natural gas is the near-term answer. Fire it up in freight transportation first for a smoother transition. And BTW, gasoline and diesel won't go away. It will get much more expensive, and we'll deal with it.

Don't just try to wish the problem away. Prepare for it. Become more self-sufficient and less dependent on fuel yourselves. A freezer, for example, will help to cut down drastically on personal mileage and fuel usage in general (grocery transportation to stores). So will a garden or membership in a local gardening organization. ...and many other measures. Stock up on items that can't be locally produced.

And BTW, Pickens said $120 per barrel oil in 3 to 6 months. So save your money, and get ready for big inflation in early 2012, only a few months away.

And he knows whereof he speaks! Of all US presidents, he definitely has the most experience with the complex task of vacation planning.

Hey, ObaMao, you arrogant pr**k, the unemployed can’t afford a vacation there anyway. And even if they did, who is gonna pay $5 a gallon to get there? Shut it down!

It’s about time Yogi and Boo Boo got off their dead behinds and found a real job. Hibernation is just another word for welfare. Lousy good-for-nothing wastrel bears.

I’ll do without the vacation in Yellowstone Park and take it when your ass is out of the White House....

The Democrats love to say they appropriate millions of acres every year for the public so that generations of Americans will be able to enjoy “their” land.

Right. Look who holds the key.

My home is 154 miles from the west entrance to
Yellowstone. In past years, I’ve purchased an
annual pass for all national parks and visited
Yellowstone every two weeks from mid April to
September. The last two years I paid $80 for a
pass, but could only visit one time for a few
hours due to work obligations in San Diego. I
haven’t purchased my pass this year. It appears
Obama wants to take my money and lock the
park. To paraphrase Charlie Sheen...too bad
sucker...I’m keeping my money.

And so begins the hysteria....
By next week, the facts won’t matter a damn.
It’s very sad, and a prime indicator of just how far we have fallen, as a nation.

It’s $25 a car to visit the Grand Canyon. 6000 cars a day = $150K a day. If you can’t run a hole in the ground on $150k a day you must be...The Federal Government. A couple grand for bathroom cleaning, a couple grand for rent-a-cops to throw out the drunks and voila the park is open. What about the hotels, the restaurants, the mule rides... they are all private concessions who are happy to stay open.
