Looking at this strictly from the angle of the backgrounds of the anchors at CBS (and NOT from political orientation), Pelley continues the tradition of Texans at the helm in that slot. Cronkite, though born in Missouri, was raised in Houston and went to UT. Rather's from Wharton. Austin's Bob Schieffer went to TCU. And Pelley was born in San Antonio and worked in Lubbock and the Dallas-Ft. Worth market.

It won’t make a difference what talking head they put in there to read the news. Until CBS changes from a propaganda broadcast arm of the Democratic Party to an actual news gathering outfit they won’t see any change in their ratings.

Remember when C --> BS announced that chicken-neck Katie was there to attrack young men to her news show ? still chuckling ... Why didn't the bozos hire Giselle Buncheon?
And, then pathetically for the last 2 years the captain of the CBS ship stood by chicken-neck Katie ...ad nauseum.
This shot says it all about old chicken neck....

According to a new report from TMZ and picked up by Fox, CBS will play it safe and turn to an in-house talent in Scott Pelley to replace Katie Couric as its evening news anchor.
This is like being appointed one of the last riders in the Pony Express. Who even watches the nightly network news broadcasts anymore?

I believe we were in third place for 13 years before I got here, she said, according to the New York Post. And I think habits, particularly with an evening news broadcast, move at a glacial pace. And I think that local news stations have something to do with it.
I hate to agree with the idiot but she does have a point. The people who watch network news these days are people who spent their lives watching it. It is a very old demographic. They don’t switch channels much because in the days before remotes it required you to get up and walk over to the tv and turn a dial. How a network news show does in chasing a diminishing audience that is dying off has a lot to do with what is on before and also after the news. Wheel of Fortune influences the audience far more than you would guess.

Everyone loves you and knows you're just perfect.
Enjoy your corporate/national rejection, mediocrity and obscurity.

Oh come on. Katie hasn’t completely killed CBS evening news. I say give her more time...
So much for the former brightest star in the Today Show line-up. Who knew that she wasn’t as bright as she thought she was?
Imagine that, people didn’t want to listen to her. It took how many years to figure that one out?
It took how many years to figure out that a touchy-feelie presentation format, that covered very little news in that half hour, wasn’t going to appeal to the largest segment of their die-hard news listeners, men?
It makes me smile when I think of how much the CBS network decision makers get paid.
For 1/100th of what they make, I could have explained to the top brass, that when it comes to news, people want a balanced approach that delivers the most unbiased information in the least amount of time.
What a novel concept...
