The GOP is long on promises. But when it comes time to actually do something, they choke!

I am so tired of hearing about the next decade or the next two decades. It NEVER works out like they say it will. Tell me about TOMORROW and next week. THIS budget year, not what you say you will do down the road. It's like the obese person who's eating Krispy Kreme donuts and vowing they will go on a diet TOMORROW.
When I see a forecast talking about what will be saved over the next decade I know I'm hearing spin. Or more correctly BS.

Means nothing if they don’t front load the cuts.

Let me see, we cannot seem to get an agreement on budget cuts for the current year...so, why do I believe there will be a better deal when we begin discussing next year’s budget which will be demigoged by Ohau through the entire election process? No just keep sending forward cuts NOW, no agreement, shut the place down as soon as we get to the debt limit. Argue from strength, not from weakness. Never go to a war of words on budget cutting with a weak back bone.

The 4 Trillion still leaves us about 10 Trillion too short.
We must cut and reform the big entitlements, such as Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid (or raise taxes by a huge amount).
Without doing the above, the dollar crashes, and it’s GAME OVER for the US as an economic superpower.
But judging from the reception that I get here when I bring up Social Security reform at this so-called conservative site (i.e., make it into a means-tested welfare program), it AIN’T GOING TO HAPPEN.
...so get ready for a ride to the bottom.

Yeah, this whole “next decade” is a fool’s errand. The next Congress could simply rewrite the law. Cut this year. Now!

GOPBS. Phantom Saving. I will believe it when I see Federal Agencies eliminated. Otherwise GTH GOP. They just want to be Capt. of the Titanic instead of Obama.
To: maggief
Ryan said the changes to Medicare and Medicaid would not reduce spending on those programs. Rather, he said, they would slow their rate of growth from an otherwise "unsustainable" trajectory. Same old, same old. Too little, too late.

What I can’t understand is why we can’t ramp it down two trillion in two years. We added a trillion dollars per year to the budget over the past two years. Why can’t that simply be rolled back? The GOP is playing on the Dems turf here.

“right. 4 trillion is chicken feed.”
No, it’s real money, but just not nearly enough for this mess.

Another frigging joke, the last newt glide path worked at real well, could we just contract out congress to some illegals and save a ton of money.
To: maggief
Fail.
Cut 4 Trillion TODAY or be replaced.

Ryan said Sunday that the GOP proposal would reform the tax code but focus on spending cuts and entitlement reform to achieve savings.
"We don't have a tax problem," Ryan said. "We have got to stop spending money we don't have."
Fire Ryan.
