“What I can’t understand is why we can’t ramp it down two trillion in two years. We added a trillion dollars per year to the budget over the past two years. Why can’t that simply be rolled back? The GOP is playing on the Dems turf here.”

As I was reading this my fiancee’ said the same thing. Why aren’t they looking at what the 30% increase was in the last 2 years and cutting that out first? I agree. Obamacare has got to be most of it so if they cut that whole program a lot goes away. Then you have the Service Act which added 250,000 more people to the govt payroll. This new Food Safety Act has got to be adding costs. They need to look at every piece of legislation that has been passed in the last 2 years and the worthless Dept of Education which needs to go and on and on and on.

“We don’t have a tax problem,” Ryan said. “We have got to stop spending money we don’t have.”

I think what he means by this statement is that it is not that we are taxed too little but that we spend too much.

“The GOP is long on promises. But when it comes time to actually do something, they choke!”

Obamacare should have been the line in the sand for Republicans and it would have given them some measure of (restored) credibility. Public sentiment is already against it so that’s where you want to have your battle royale. Fight it and refuse to fund it at every turn.

The main opponent to GOP recommended cuts to the tax dollar budget will be, GOP Speaker Boehner. Boehner has definitively proven he is as much a RINO as Lindsay Graham.

Smoke and Mirrors, all a big joke. The GOP leadership is a total failure. Nothing the technocrat Ryan will do will severely reduce government. The same with Boehner.

Where is the talk of eliminating whole departments?? At the rate we are going, our Republic will surely not last 10 years.

I am convinced more and more that we will either decay into a total Socialist hell, or Revolution II will happen. I see no other way that things unfold. Either option will be painful, but only one has the potential to bring us back to Liberty.

Paul Ryan and Boner are still fooling people into thinking they are "conservative" I see.

Paul Ryan is helping Obama. It's a false choice. Obama raised spending by so much that Ryan's cuts aren't going to jack.

Ryan knows this but he doesn't care because he is a big government Republican.

said his party's budget proposal for 2012 would cut deficits by more than $4 trillion over the next decade

Starting with $0 to $61B this year. The only budget that is law is this years's budget. It is always lots of fun to promise outyear money to everyone, but outyear money is even less real that Federal Reserve notes.

exactly right. Ryan is foremost strictly a number's guy technocrat. I don't think Ryan understands the uniqueness of our Founding. This guy has no true sense of the danger our Republic is facing.

He is a total joke, like Boehner.

I can’t see that happening unless entire departments are obliterated.

We also have hundreds of billions budgeted during those years but still not yet spent that could be cut.

The GOP has a number of opportunities to do things here in one fell swoop. I just don’t get why they aren’t grabbing it.

GOP Budget Plan to Cut More Than $4 Trillion Over Decade, Rep. Ryan Says

"Why of COURSE it WILL happen, $4 Trillion over ten years, my dear! What do you think we Republicans are, humbugs?..."

As I read it this plan merely cuts the DEFICIT by $4T. Current deficit estimates are for $20 TRILLION over a decade. That means that the DEBT will continue to GROW. We currently pay $676 Billion in interest on the $14+ Trillion Debt. Under this plan we will continue to INCREASE the DEBT beyond the $14+ Trillion currently. Another Half-A**ed attempt to scam the problem.

That’s only $400 billion per year. You need to cut $1.5 trillion per year.

I've read the posting through # 38, and for the most part, the FReepers that are ranting about, this not being enough of a cut, or one that wants to cut $ 4 trillion this year, do not acknowledge how the feds are currently constructed.

If the USA adopts the budget that Ryan proposes on Tuesday, as is, he should be made KING FOR LIFE, and all his children should be made princes and princesses.

Wait until it is released and watch how the demonRATS go berserk and you will start to appreciate how good Ryan's budget proposal really is.

Fire Ryan? NO, CROWN KING RYAN.

Ryan voted “aye” on TARP and the automobile co(s). bailouts. Cease pretending he is some magnificent advocate for reigning in federal spending profligacy.
