Pastor Terry Jones Says Afghan U.N. Violence 'Proves My Point'
ABC News ^ | April 1, 2011 | NICK SCHIFRIN, AGHA ALEEM, LEE FERRAN and MATT GUTMAN

Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who oversaw the burning of a Koran last month, said he did not feel responsible for the violent protest at a United Nations compound in Afghanistan today that left at least 11 dead. Instead, he said the violence proved his point.

"We wanted to raise awareness of this dangerous religion and dangerous element," Jones said. "I think [today's attack] proves that there is a radical element of Islam."

As for the 11 dead, which included seven U.N. staffers and guards, Jones told "Nightline" anchor Bill Weir, "We do not feel responsible, no."

The deaths followed a protest march in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif today against the Koran burning. Jones supervised while another pastor, Wayne Sapp, soaked the Koran in kerosene and burned it.

"We decided to put the Koran on trail," he told Weir. "I was the judge but I did not determine the verdict. I was just a type of referee so that people got their time to defend or condemn the Koran."

Jones said that a "jury" of people from all over Florida debated the radicalism of Islam, and the "Koran was found guilty."

"If the Koran was found guilty then there were four forms of punishment: burning, shredding, grounding, a firing squad," he said. "The one that the people chose was burning. That is why the Koran was burned after it was found guilty."

How about taking care of the real problem?

The terrorists who committed the murders!!!

Or should be careful not to incite them with our freedom of speech?

The Islamists must be cackling with glee when they read posts like that.

They’ve got their jihad against the West half won — by getting Americans to scapegoat their own.

I do admit that the pastor with his actions walks a very fine and dangerous line but....

There are many of us who fear losing our rights more than we fear radical terrorists of Islam.

I will publically burn A Koran tommorrow if I feel like I have to stand up for my rights. Screw anyone who wants to try and kill me for it.

What if they end up killing innocent others because of it?

(ok, I’m off for the night now for sure, will look for your response tomorrow if you care to post one)

I will just add that I know that the positions each of you take come from a deep love and support for our troops and that you want Americans to act in ways that will support them and not put them in harms ways.

I apoligise for the passion I displayed against your posts. I do overall disagree with the position you are all taking but I do 100% respect the place whereas it is coming from.

I do not want to see our troops be underminded and I know this issue has two sides to it.

Please accept my apoligies if I over-reacted with my counter points.

If I were a Company Comander in Afghanistan, I would think about visiting Pastor Jones on my return and kicking the sh!t out of this attention whore. I don’t like rabid dogs but, recognizing their nature, I’m not going to poke them with a stick unnecessarily.

Oh, yeah, blame the pastor not the frickin' muslim loonies who actually committed the murders of someone who was totally innocent in the burning of the frickin' sh** book of the muslims. Your kind of thinking is why the MSM and politicians keep their mouths closed and allow this murderous cult to stay in business.

Another point is that muslims seem to lack the ability to apply some self-criticism now and then.

So where are all the interviews, press conferences, and news releases from all of the Islamist leaders in the U.S. denouncing the massacre of U.N. personnel in Afghanistan and the beheading of two people?!?

Where are all the statements from Mohammadans to the media claiming that while they are critical of the Koran burning, they denounce the slaughter of innocent people by Afghan extremists who were not behaving as Muslims should?!?

.... waiting.... waiting.... (crickets chirping).... waiting....

Well Jones is a moron. HE had to know that innocents would die as a result of his stunt. He is an attention whore. Had he traveled to Afghanistan or some other insane Muslim country and put his butt on the line he would be walking the walk.

Of course the Muslim religion breeds savagery nothing more nothing less. These people are insane and the people who try to portray the savages as a Religion of Peace are kidding themselves.

You may not be looking for Jihad but Jihad is looking for you. It gives no quarter and cannot reverse course. The system of Islam is irrevocably at war with Israel and her Keeper, the Creator, the King of the Universe. The original American Idea is rooted in the Original Jewish idea, and the Revelation at Sinai. America was built on the veracity of that Law. That is why Islam is sworn to utterly destroy America and her children. America must stand with Israel. ... Judgment is coming. Japan was prophesy: a mere warning of what is to come. But know this: Islam will be completely wiped off the face of the earth. Not one shred of it will survive. Do not seek alliances with Islam. We are to warn Muslims to get out while there is still time.

American soldiers wearing head scarves to appease the Muslims they are protecting.

Coming to a crowded, burning theater near you?

Look Prairie, they are going to do everything they can to bring the world into submission to Islam. They do not need an excuse to be angry - our non-submitted infidel existence makes them angry.

Think about what you are saying: If a man burning a book in Florida can be used to justify sawing the head off of another human being in Afghanistan, who is the insane party? So the 'pastor' doesn't burn a Koran? There will be another reason to shed infidel blood, because their thin skinned demonic 'god' demands it.

I'm afraid you have fallen into the liberal tactic of transferring blame. The cleric in Afghanistan who whipped these people into a frenzy is more to blame - but really, the sub-human teachings that make it acceptable is the root of the evil.

His “church” [aka furniture-packing-and-shipping biz] has also in the past worked side by side with the Westboro “Baptist Church”* nuts [*known for obnoxious protests at soldier’s funerals and IIRC, for praising Saddam Hussein]. Maybe both groups plan to get together to protest at the funerals of these decapitated people and so double their publicity at others’ expense. A real “twofer.”

I heard there were some criminals in South Central LA who didn’t like some of Obama’s decisions regarding Libya, so they went out and mugged some elderly folks and stole their money.

I guess that would justify people attacking Obama by the same criterion.

No. One kills a rabid dog once it is determined to be rabid.

Seems like ample proof.

I have a great idea for Ramadan: like the “Yule log”, how about a “Yule Koran” website that shows a fireplace with burning Korans, regularly fed by new books, in an endless loop.

I personally would have preferred he shoot the Koran. Burning is so yesterday.

Or have a pig poop on it and put it up on a private YouTube-type site.

I rented a great movie from Netflix last night. It is a great eye-opener for those not aware of the history of wars in Afghanistan and how nations have tried to conqueor Afghanistan and were defeated.

9th Company

2005 R 140 minutes

After barely surviving an intensely grueling boot camp in Uzbekistan, an eclectic group of recently enlisted Soviet soldiers ships off to fight in Afghanistan, where they must endure hellish conditions and extremely dangerous Mujahideen forces. Based on a true story from the 1980s, this rousing Russian war film about camaraderie and heroism stars Aleksey Chadov, Artur Smolyaninov and Konstantin Kryukov.

A reviewer says: "Anyone with an interest in the Soviet War in Afghanistan should see this. No shortcuts were taken in filming. Proper weapons were used. The tanks shown never served in Afghanistan but are of the right era. The fighters, helos and APC's are all period and war correct. Oddly enough I know the Afghani who supplied the uniforms for this movie, and they are, with minor exceptions, absolutely authentic. Excellent movie, and having it in spoken English, even better"

If Christians cannot live in safety among Muslims, the correct Western response is to expel Muslims from the West, and offer sanctuary to any Christians in Muslim lands who wish to immigrate to the West.

We should NOT cower in fear over what is essentially a hostage situation.
