There should be a push to drill everywhere there is anything worth taking.
If we had someone in the Oval Office who cared about us, there would be hollering to the rooftops of every mosque in the middle east. All it would take would be a message along the lines of: "We're going full throttle to harvest our own natural resources".
The OPECrs would open the spigots like yesterday and oil prices would plummet overnight.

Instead of concentrating on drilling in one or two places we need to overwhelm the left with calls for drilling everywhere. Gas, oil, coal, everything.
This is just onshore natural gas and in places like Michigan it's virtually untouched.

Let’s all call our Republican politicians and encourage them, and if they start to back down, let them know of our disappointment.

Drill Gaia like a 3 AM prom date. Now that is FREAKIN FUNNY! And sooo true.
I'm not a big tagline person, just two different ones in the last seven years, but this is too perfect not to use. I hope you don't mind.

The key is they need keep the pressure on. Gas prices are going to go up and up these next two years. Saudi Arabia goes the way of Eygpt and the battle over drilling will be won for us with gas prices heading upward of $6+. The GOP needs to establish themselves as the domestic energy party. They need to fight every day for that goal. They need to push for new refineries, new coal plants, new drilling, etc.

Sponsored by around 30 lawmakers, including Senators David Vitter and Jim DeMint, the legislation would also amend the Clean Air Act so that carbon dioxide could not be regulated as a pollutant by the Environmental Protection Agency. "Yesterday, the president offered some vague platitudes, but no concrete plans to rein in rising gas prices, even as they climb toward $4 per gallon," Senator Vitter said at a press conference.
The Republican bill, he told reporters, "would unleash our vast domestic energy potential to create American jobs, help free us from our reliance on foreign oil and begin to reduce our $14 trillion national debt."
Vitter said his bill would create more than 2 million jobs, $10 trillion in economic activity and $2 trillion in federal tax receipts over 30 years.
This is a good battle for the GOP to take the lead and take the fight to the liberals. With gasoline prices going up and the economy on shaky ground, they can make the case that increased US oil production is important. The public is seeing $4.00+ a gallon gas and some analysts say $5.00 is not too far off into the future. It's good to see the GOP get ahead of the curve on issues that matter. The fact is, this is both good policy and reveals Obama as out of touch with the average America - a double win situation. I hope they go for it and make the best case they can.

Would the Caribou and Moose accept a Casino built for them in exchange that we be allowed to drill there ?
To: cripplecreek
Do you think that’s the very reason why China and other countries want to carve up America for our oil and gas reserves ? RED DAWN ? and the Democrats and RINOs will let them do it ? is America for sale to the highest bidder ? it seems that way, doesn’t it ? they have sold us out.
To: PROCON
" Way too late to make an immediate difference, but let's see the dims vote against cheaper gas. "
They want to reserve it for the CHICOMS so the CHICOMS can get a hold of it.
To: PROCON
Think about it ... we owe the Chicoms close to a $ Trillion. and so ? the Democrats and the RINOs sell us out and tell the Chicoms, there you have it, all the oil and coal is yours in underhanded deals and contracts to fill their pockets.
Is it any wonder ? , No wonder they are so dogmatic against us drilling for our own oil and gas.
If ? IF ! if it was just the matter of the Environment, why then ? are they allowing the Chinese to drill off of Florida, and in the Gulf of Mexico ?

Way too late to make an immediate difference, but let's see the dims vote against cheaper gas. Ah, but it will make a difference.
Recall the last oil price spike. It began with the Dem takeover of Congress and Nancy Pelosi's promise to eliminate further exploration for oil in the USA proper and offshore.
And it ended with the GOP filibuster in the House and the eventual agreement by Harry and Nancy to re-open offshore leasing. Which, of course, they rescinded immediately after the 2008 election.
Announced government policy has a clear effect on commodity prices.

You're right, I've seen pictures of it, there's NOTHING there, frozen tundra with your occassional moose, but your right, the dims have a way of fooling their constituents because it's "for the children!"
I work in the Alaskan Arctic. There is a variety wildlife (many caribou in the summertime, only a handful stay through the winter. No moose.), but numerous safeguards in place for working there.
You're absolutely correct about the perception that has been created by politicians/activist groups. It is easy to do, because it is a place that few people ever see first-hand. ANWR is a case in point, the lease they want to develop (1002) is in the NW corner of ANWR.
To put into perspective, the entire north slope portion of Alaska is approx 90,000 square miles, and only 315 sq mi of that is 'occupied' by oil exploration (e.g. roads/pads, pipeline corridors, facilities/buildings, etc).
