The Bellaire, Ohio man, who has not been publicly identified, was a patient at Wheeling Hospital in West Virginia, ABC Affiliate WTRF reported.
On Sunday, the 43-year-old man's two roommates discovered him unconscious. They called authorities.
When firefighters arrived, they discovered that the man's skin was stuck to the chair with urine and feces. Maggots were visible, according to local reports.
"The chair was very filthy, a lot of odor to it. Going in the house, the house was not clean. The living room where the man lived in his chair was very filthy, very deplorable. It's unbelievable that somebody lives in conditions like that" Jim Chase, a code enforcer for the city, told ABC affiliate WKEF said.

One story says a “girlfriend” and a roommate discovered him unconscious.
You're doing it wrong.
I noticed those too when I actually clicked on over to the website. The Enquirer has nothing on ABC.
These Silhouette romances practically write themselves.
Can anyone out there draw a 700lb Fabio in a poo-encrusted La-Z-boy?
Curious - how much extra does the undertaker charge to handle this one?
what is being said among family and friends at the funeral...geez
or the obituary “after a long illness”?
unless you work with people the size of that man....or even anyone over 350#....its extremely difficult to do anything with them....its a major problem just to turn them....to keep them clean ....you need several people just to hold up a leg and fold back the fat tissue...
all the physical therapies in the world can't do much for a patient that can not hold his own weight, which is probably the case with this guy....
what these people need is mandatory committment, but then we get into issues of the state interferring in civil rights...
Room mates probably cashing his disability checks “for him”...
By the way - how come folks can draw SS disability for being fat?
“One officer said it was the worst thing he ever responded to. And most said the worst part of all was the smell. Ironically the landlord says the man in the chair rented from her before and used to be a vital active person.
She says she checked on them periodically but lately he always sat with a blanket over him. She says she had no idea it had come to this.
Sunday morning his housemates called officials when he was unresponsive. “
I’ve seen people like this. Oh yeah, someone is bringing him food. He is definitely on SSDI.
We had one my coworkers tell me about who weighted 700lbs. He couldn’t feed himself, his hands couldn’t reach his mouth! His parents asked if they could bring him McDonalds. They brought 20 hamburgers! The nurse said he could have 1 burger and 1 fry, no more. He threw a 2 year old in the candy aisle screaming fit! The nurse threw out the parents and laid down the law to Mr Spoiled rotten. The parents complained we were starving him.
He had roommates??? Well, at least he didn’t hog the bathroom.
They were just following Obama's cautious and deliberate decision-making skills.
This is not a ping. Wait, what? I’m gettin out of this chair right now.

Gross.
I’ve this as a plotline on tv doctor shows. More than once I think. Ripped from the headlines.
WTH was wrong with the “roommates”? I wouldn’t live with anybody who was shiteing in their chair.
