Trump: 'The Bush era gave us Obama' By Michael O'Brien - 03/30/11 10:09 AM ET
Real estate mogul broke Republicans' famous "11th Commandment" on Wednesday and went on the attack against former President George W. Bush, accusing his administration of leading to President Obama's.
Trump, the bombastic reality television star who's considering a run for the Republican nomination for president, said that the "mistakes" Bush made as president led directly to the election of Obama.
"I think the Bush era really hurt us," Trump said on conservative talker Laura Ingraham's radio show. "The Bush era gave us Obama."
Trump made the comments in context of the question of whether he thought dark-horse Republican figures like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie or former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush would make good national candidates for the GOP.
Trump called Christie, a rock star among conservatives, a "really good friend of mine," and expressed some affection for Jeb Bush before noting the former president's unpopularity.
"In all fairness to Obama and Sarah Palin, you could not have won that election," Trump said. "At the moment, I just don't want to hear about Bush."
President Reagan, the Republican icon, had a famous "11th Commandment," ordering Republicans not to speak ill of other Republicans.
Bush still suffers from unfavorable ratings but has rebounded some since leaving office. A mid-March Pew Poll found that 42 percent of U.S. adults view the former Republican president favorably, while 54 percent view him unfavorably.
Flame away if you wish, but on a certain level, he’s right. Obama WAS the anti-Bush. He successfully painted Hillary as very close to Bush in the arena of foreign policy. Now that we know he’s little different than Bush, he’ll not be able to use that against any 2012 opponent.
I don’t think he’s wrong. Bush was never good at selling his positions. So the media had a really easy time of blaming him for every possible issue that ever arose.
Had he been more effective in getting out there and defending his positions, things might have worked out better for us.
Trump is a nut, but I agree with him on that statement.
Trump is actually quite correct about this.
The endless anti-Bush propaganda campaigns, funded by the Soros/Clinton Shadow Party groups, created an atmosphere of actual HATE.
Yet, when you ask most Bush-haters why they hate him, all they can do is spew a few mostly-disproven talking points. They don’t really KNOW why they are supposed to hate him, just that they have been told to.
This era will be studied by future generations as an example of the power of propaganda, as much as the Societ Era, and the rise of the Nazi’s is.
In some ways he is correct. Obama won, in my opinion, due to at least four factions -
1. He was not Bush
2. He was black
3. Voter fraud
4. Die-hard Dims who pull the D lever regardless of candidate
I suspect that without group 1, McLame would have squeaked through.
Telling an unpleasant truth, is seldom the popular thing to do.
Was Pres. Bush infallible? Nope. I disagree with him vehemently on the way he handled illegal immigration. He had 8 yrs to move toward a solution, instead he made this a non-issue. A great deal of the problems we have to day, can be laid directly at his feet.
Was the Press fair to Pres. Bush? Nope, not at all. But, honestly, the press will NEVER give the Conservative movement a fair shake, they never have, they never will. Deal with it.
How? Develop a backbone, a real spine; espouse Conservative values and to hell with the press. Worked for Pres. Reagan and is working fairly well for ex-Gov. Palin.
I’m fairly confident that the reasons he chooses for his assertion that “The Bush era gave us Obama” are wrong, or at least skewed.
However, I do believe the basic premise is correct.
Here’s my reason for saying that:
Bush was a RINO on too many issues (and allied with a huge phalanx of RINOs in congress).
When it comes to electing DEMOCRATS, Americans eventually tire of the RINO OPTION and go for the real thing.
In that sense, Bush did lead to Obama.
Bush, Hasteret, Lott, Republican House and Senate.
We had the right man at the right time. Thank you God.
Well....then he’d have to stipulate the Clinton era gave us Bush.
The new birther hero, a hack.
Two, Trump is correct.
The endless anti-Bush propaganda campaigns, funded by the Soros/Clinton Shadow Party groups, created an atmosphere of actual HATE.
Isn’t it strange how our side doesn’t need a propaganda campaign to hate Obama?
Yet, when you ask most Bush-haters why they hate him, all they can do is spew a few mostly-disproven talking points. The other day I asked a hard-core leftist in my New York office what he thought of Obama's new war.
My leftist co-worker answered my question by launching into a rant about how Bush loved torture. It was the most amazing textbook case of "in denial" I've ever seen in my whole life. If it had been filmed and put in a TV show, viewers would have said, "nah, not realistic. No one is that stupid."
But the left is that stupid. They really are.
Nope. He is right.
A feckless Congress, Senate and Presidency blew every chance they had to remain relevant and it looks they are on the road to implosion again.
Indeed.
I'd add, narcissist, publicity whore.
AT least we’d know we were being Gore’d.
.... or that the Carter era gave us Reagan.
The American electorate tends to be cyclical. Tired of right wing governance they tack leftward, the leftists see this as a stunning mandate for change - and that scares the American electorate back towards the right - who see this as a stunning mandate for change - and that scares the American electorate back towards the left.......
“The new birther hero, a hack”.

OOOO you like using the term “birther” don’t you? Who is your hero, Obama?
