Threats Claim Nuclear Bombs Hidden All Over U.S.
CBS Chicago ^ | March 30, 2011 | Staff

CHICAGO (CBS 2) – The threats came in the mail and to date, there have been 25 letters that warn of nuclear bombs destroying America.

People who got them called the FBI and CBS 2′s Kristyn Hartman learned, the Bureau’s Chicago office is leading the investigation.

FBI Special Agent Andre Zavala said, “Yes, they alarmed a lot of people.”

Attorney Tracy Rizzo was alarmed. A number of days ago, an envelope, with a Chicago postmark and a hand-written address to her private investigations firm, came in the mail.

The letter inside said, “The Al-Qaeda organization has planted 160 nuclear bombs throughout the U.S. in schools, stadiums, churches, stores, financial institutions and government buildings.” It also said, “This is a suicide mission for us.”

The writer, who claims to be Osama Bin Laden, tells the reader the nukes are remotely controlled. “It was clear the writer wanted to scare me,” said Rizzo, “Yes, it frightened me.” Rizzo was one of eight people in the Chicago area to contact the FBI.

Agencies in Oregon, California, Texas and Florida also got the letter with the Chicago postmark.

“There are items in the letter that lead us to believe it is a hoax,” said Zavala. “There are several demands documented that aren’t fully coherent.”

He said much of what’s in the message doesn’t add up, but in a post 9-11 world, the FBI can’t let it go – even if it does appear to be a hoax.

“The FBI investigates every element. We can’t take that chance,” said Zavala.

So, why the threats?

The writer alluded to how families in Afghanistan have to live. The FBI said it will find that writer, and when it does, he could face 5 to 10 years in prison for each letter mailed. Anyone who’s received a similar letter should call the FBI.

Don’t know how credible this is. Don’t think they have the resources/abilities to pull something like this off.

This seems like a hoax.

If UBL was able to pull something like this off, he wouldn’t give a warning.

160 nuclear bombs is not credible.

Now, if they had said they had eleventy-skadillion, one hundred and twenty brazillion, four hundred and seventy-seven flopillion nuclear bombs hidden, THAT would have gotten me concerned.

Actually, he would. It’s his style.

However, he’d do it in an audio or video not by anon letters.

I call hoax on this one but be ever vigilant. Who knows, maybe ATF allowed nukes into our nation in order to secure the arrest of the persons involved like they let guns out of our nation to Mexico for that very reason.

Plus, while Chicago resembles Pakistan and Afghanistan in many respects (IE third world Sh** hole) I don’t thing OBL would be sending letters from there.

Were they sent by a Jennings & Rall employee?

If they said they had one or perhaps two I would be more concerned. But 160, come on. China is only estimated to have between 180 warheads in service. Pakistan has built no more than 110 given the amount of material they started off with. And there aren't more than 90 still in service.

Where would they have gotten them from? You aren't going to build 160 nuclear bombs in a garage or the basement of some mosque. We are talking about major industrial complex to do that kind of construction.

And they aren't old cold war Russian nukes. The highly enriched plutonium or uranium in the trigger breaks down over time. Any weapon build before 1990 is a paperweight now unless new triggers have been put in place. And the trigger is the hardest part of the bomb to build. Again you might be able to build one or two at a university without everyone knowing. But 160, no freaking way.

““The Al-Qaeda organization has planted 160 nuclear bombs throughout the U.S. in schools, stadiums, churches, stores, financial institutions and government buildings.””

Pure attempt to project fear. Schools, churches, stadiums, banks, etc. A nuke in a warehouse over by the train tracks is gonna be as devastating as one in a school but “warehouse” doesn’t have the same fear factor as school.
