President Obama on Wednesday will call for a one-third cut in oil imports by 2020, part of a plan he says will reduce U.S. dependence on foreign petroleum.
With rising gasoline prices at home and political turmoil throughout the Middle East, Obama will seek in a speech at Georgetown University to rally Americans and bickering lawmakers behind a program that draws about half of that import cut from energy savings and about half from greater energy production, according to Obama aides who briefed reporters Tuesday.

I’m sure those drilling permits will start flowing out of Washington any minute now. /s
Get out your walking shoes.
I plan to call for every American to be multi-millionaires by 2017!
I wonder if he will be ‘briefing’ the media on his Brazil trip?

Presidents have been making proclamations like this since the Nixon days, and not a single one has come close to meeting it.
And you have to make application to your local fossil fuel energy supplier to get pre-approval for purchases.
His plan? Windmills? Solar Cells? But no new drilling.
didn’t he just go to Brazil and love them up about us buying their oil?
Didn’t Carter say pretty much the same dang thing when he was in office?
That worked out nicely. /sar.
Simple. 1/3 of the people support the enviro wackos. Just cut off the oil to them. Cut off the oil to their private jets; to their limos; to their homes in Aspen; to their hybrids. Let them drive their hybrids on electric only ... but don’t let them use electricity from imported oil.
Or we could just cut off oil to the states that went blue in 2010. That would do it.
If we can make it to January 20, 2013 the only thing left of him in 2020 will be the debt.
Odd numbered homes can fill up once a month on the first Thursday. All others the third Monday since it will take an entire week for the odd numbered drivers to sort it out.
Obama’s “energy plan”:
Shut down drilling.
Shut down nuclear.
Shut down coal.
Shut down oil imports.
Shut down American industry.
Shut down the American economy.
Ensure maximum dependency on the government.
Establish permanent control based upon people voting in their own self interest.
Maybe they would begin to get a clue that a great many of us out here don't have a public transportation option. We can't take a bus, subway, or local train. Those options don't exist. We can't walk nor ride a bike to wherever we are going. Those are not viable options, either.
That doesn't even address the use of vehicles to provide goods and services to people.
Oh, and I may live in Texas, but you can forget it, I'm not riding a horse!!
Why is this man still in office when EVERY EFFORT should be made to get him out!
Here we go again with the broad outlines for some great idea of Premier Hussein’s without any specifics on how to actually go about accomplishing any of it.
Coal? It makes us sick.
Nuclear? What, you live under a rock??
Gas? No LNG facilities in my backyard.
Hydroelectric?? We are breaching and removing dams, not building them.
Not to mention that nobody has come up with a better way of moving freight around than the diesel powered truck; airplanes still burn hydrocarbon fuel, and windmills won’t do a damned thing to solve either one of those problems.
We have no coherent National Energy Policy any more than we have a coherent strategery in Libya. I don’t know who came up with the words for the teleprompter this time, but I am sure it was not Premier Hussein...
Correct but when other Presidents have said I will do this and that they have never brought America to her knees. Obama is suckling the UN teet and destroying us. As people lose jobs, can’t sell homes to relocate to maybe seek employment ,can’t afford the ‘petro’ to drive to job interviews. The corrupt media cheerleading for him even if he eats a live baby on TV... Obama is counting on them also not being able to afford to pay attention.
