Anyone who thinks this is a great idea should be forced to live in flyover country for the next year. Not only in flyover country, but in a town or "city" of fewer than, say, 20,000 people.

Maybe they would begin to get a clue that a great many of us out here don't have a public transportation option. We can't take a bus, subway, or local train. Those options don't exist. We can't walk nor ride a bike to wherever we are going. Those are not viable options, either.

That doesn't even address the use of vehicles to provide goods and services to people.

Oh, and I may live in Texas, but you can forget it, I'm not riding a horse!!

never understood the appeal of mass transit as a method of “reducing” energy usage.
a bus get less than 4mpg, and runs all day even when it’s mostly, or completely empty of passengers.
