Then, when they twisted her words, she said this: “Every time that campaign is upset about something, they call it racist,” she said. “I will not be discriminated against because I’m white. If they think they’re going to shut up Geraldine Ferraro with that kind of stuff, they don’t know me.”

The nation needs more people who can talk like that.

Geraldine said that Sarah Palin was the first and only woman who had thanked her for paving the way.

Prayers for her soul and for comfort to her family.

On another note, I wonder if the New York Daily News will identify her as a "failed Vice-Presidential candidate" like they have described Sarah Palin.

Shame on you. You are a problem, not the people here who have refrained for vitriol. Did you even bother to read the posts?

She was the kind of political opponent that was how things should be done. You may not agree with the opinions, but the person is still genuine and you know she loved her country.

I pray that she denounced her substantial contribution to the murder of millions of innocent lives and that she confessed her sins before God. That is my prayer for her.....

Amen and amen.

I never realized she was that age. I’m still in denial about my own.

that means she was only about 48 when she was the VIP nominee... that's only a couple of years older than i am now... in my mind, i seem so my younger than she did back then... haha! i guess i'm in denial too!

I knew she had been fighting cancer for years. Still, it is a shock. Never agreed much with Ms Ferraro but she was a decent person. I appreciated her defense of Sarah.

She was very gracious to Sarah Palin.

RIP.

Ferraro defends Palin

She said she spoke to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., to wish him a happy birthday — Ferraro’s birthday was earlier this week, she turned 73 — and she told McCain to give Palin her congratulations.

“He said, ‘Why don’t you speak to her?’” Ferraro recounted. So she did. “She was very, very nice and I do congratulate her.”

Ferraro defended Palin from charges that the Alaska governor — who got her first passport last year — doesn’t have enough foreign policy experience.

“What she doesn’t know she will learn very quickly, she seems smart enough,” Ferraro said.

I’m sorry for your loss. My mother had a massive stroke on Christmas Day ‘05. She died a couple of weeks later- on Friday the 13th. of January ‘06. There’s a kicker for you, eh? Miss her everyday.

Rest in peace, Ms. Ferraro. I’m sorry you didn’t live to see a woman President sworn in.

Ditto. God bless Ms. Ferraro and her family.
