I didn't realize she was ill; I haven't seen much of her in the news, lately. I didn't agree with her politics, but I'll pray for the repose of her soul, and for peace for her family.

I first read of this on Sarah Palin's FB note. Sarah's statement was very classy.

Perhaps you are unaware that Mondale did not win MN. Only the graciousness of Reagan by conceding there, was Fritz saved the ignominious loss of his home state. DC, under the best of circumstances, is a total loss politically, and in fact should not be allowed ANY electoral votes....

Well, it's more like a cancer of certain blood cells in the marrow, rather than the bone.

Well, she was a hag.

Her husband a felon as well as her son.

No big loss.

I also will not mourn the passing of Nancy Pelosi or Hillary Clinton.

These are bad folks, people.

I never mind when a bad person has the opportunity to meet God and atone for their sins.

Good riddance to this rubbish.

'Bad person' is a very subjective characterization.

Geraldine Ferraro definitely adhered to a political philosophy (liberalism) that was 'bad' for our society and the political sphere but in her later years she appeared to become more reasonable, if not yet willing to reject liberalism and it's worst manifestations such as legalized abortion-on-demand. She'll answer to her Creator for that, not to me or anyone else here. I considered Ferraro's political views as 'bad' and so, I disagreed with them - and her. However, I had never met Geraldine Ferraro and only 'know' her from her '84 V.P. campaign and, in later years, her TV appearances, where she seemed to be saying things that indicated she had some common sense, unlike most liberal guests on TV news shows who lurch between flat-out lying and mindlessly ranting at conservatives. Ferraro's civil, even friendly, on-camera conversation with Sarah Palin (in '08) was a pleasant and welcome surprise.

Frankly, I cannot celebrate the death of another human being. Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi are people I do not like in any way and until they are out of power I will criticize them for their liberal positions that can affect all of us. However, Geraldine Ferraro had not held a government office for decades and was no threat to my freedom, as Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi could be. I find no fault in those who acknowledge Ferraro's character by calling her "decent", while clearly stating that they disagreed with her political beliefs. When Clinton and/or Pelosi die, I may not mourn them, but I will not rejoice in their deaths, call them 'hags' or reference their family's past legal problems. Their political positions and whatever negative effect they may have had on the country (Pelosi's abetting the passing of Obamacare' in 2010 leap to mind) will always be a sore point for me and I will likely ignore their passing but I won't resort to posting insults against them, which only cheapens the name-caller and the website they use as the vehicle for venting against a political opposite.

My condolences to Ferraro's family on their loss.

I remember seeing an interview with Geraldine Ferraro once, in which she told a story about how her mother was an early advocate for the education of girls: “When you educate a daughter you educate an entire family.” Wise and unselfish words.

I was going to commend the freepers. We are not the left. I respected her because she was respectable. We are not kos. They would be celebrating had Sarah Died.

Overall, I agree with you - most have been very respectful. I just feel that making snide comparisons are not necessary (and if some don't like my opinion you can kiss my grits). And you're right - the left would be showing much less class than Freepers are in a similar situation - which is why I like it here.

Geraldine was a fierce defender against the onslaught of attacks on Sarah Palin.

“Did not know that. Good to know.”

First I’ve heard of it too. Of cousre the MSM would try to hide that as much as possible. God forbid one of their own would turn symapthetic with the enemy.
