NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. Assistant school principal Jose Martinez who recently resigned from his post was arrested and charged Friday with sexually abusing a 14-year-old student, officials announced Friday. According to authorities, Jose Martinez is accused of having "ongoing courses of manual and oral sex" with the male student between March 2010 and June 2010, inside his middle school office.
Martinez, 37, has been charged with one count of second-degree criminal sexual act, officials announced at a morning press conference. New Rochelle Police Capt. Joseph Schaller told reporters Martinez was arrested Thursday at his home in Brentwood, Long Island. He remains in police custody awaiting arraignment.
Martinez resigned from his position as assistant principal of Jefferson Elementary School on March 11, after holding the post for only five months. Before transferring to Jefferson Elementary, Martinez worked as dean at the Issac E. Young Middle School.
According to officials, it was there where the abuse took place with the child who was a student at the time. Sign up for KTLA 5 Breaking News Email Alerts Police started investigating Martinez after the boy's mother made a complaint where she believed the school administrator was involved in an inappropriate relationship with her son.
On March 23, the mother finally filed a formal complaint with authorities, nearly two weeks after Martinez submitted his resignation to the school district.
According to Jefferson school officials, Martinez cited "personal reasons" for his sudden departure. District officials say they are fully cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
KAMA SUTRA....
This is why they want to kill home schooling.....
This is why they want to kill home schooling.....
I'll have to turn the timeframe, which is going forward with every post, back a bit. I graduated from high school in 1959 and I read the two daily newspapers in town and I can assure you that if anything like this went on--and I doubt it--it likely would have been reported. Scandals, and this qualifies, just didn't go on then.
How many $$$ will the schools have to fork over.
Abuse in schools is far higher than anywhere else. (Excepting possible homes where parents are sexually abusing children.)
District officials say they are fully cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
Imagine that. He wasn't promoted or reassigned by the schools so he could keep on abusing boys, but instead they are "fully cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation".
What a novel concept.
You know, it's pretty sad when the Catholic church could take lessons from the public schools on how to deal with pedophiles when caught in their midst.
I’ve been off FR for a bit - will be back in the next day or so and will ping this one out for sure!
Your post is vile and disgusting and an affront to parents everywhere.
Are you a parent?
INDEED.
That is a really nasty remark. Are you drunk?
Why is that a disgusting comment? There are homes where children are abused by parents. Are we not allowed to talk about that?
You do realize that the Catholic Church has made changes to how they handle abuse cases, right? And did you know that the majority of accusations were for instances that happened a long time ago? You can’t get anywhere near kids in the Church anymore without going through safety programs, etc. My husband had to jump through hoops to be a Scout leader in our parish. To continue to act like the church is still blindly wandering through this crisis is ridiculous.
This is up in my area. The guy was making 113,000 per year abusing children. Also note he lives in Brentwood Long Island, it is almost 50 miles and one bridge from the school. I guess for 113,000 it is worth the commute. Yes this is why we must pay so much in taxes so we can attract the best and brightest.
Are you suggesting that it isn’t possible for false accusations to be made? Are you saying that every person that is accused of abuse is guilty until proven innocent?
Living La Vida Homo.
You didn’t answer my questions. Would you please do so next time you respond to me? I never suggested that all accused priests are innocent. What happened to those young men (definitely victims)is disgusting and the accusers deserve to be punished. But not every single accused priest was guilty. Why is that so hard to admit?
There is a HUGE effort in the church to protect children now. Did you see my previous post? There were mistakes made. They didn’t handle it well at all. People were hurt. Steps are being taken so that this won’t occur again. Victims are getting money, not that that will ever take away what they had to go through. If would have been better if it had never happened What is it exactly that you want from the Church now?
