Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol was among Sarah Palin's earliest Washington admirers, and helped bring her to the national stage, but he said this week that while he still admires her, he questions her choices and doesn't think she should be the Republican nominee for president.

It ended his path to the presidency.
I’d forgotten about his 1980 run. However, if not for Chappaquiddick, Teddy would have run earlier, and he very well could have won the nomination.
I probably should have said this:
Chappaquiddick ended the possibility of Ted Kennedy becoming president.
The resignation probably ended the possibility of Sarah Palin becoming president.
And, since you wrote..."And you've apparently missed the countless interviews post election where she's said no amnesty"...how about providing when and where as I did.
The ironic thing is, is that those who are bellyaching that "she quit" would never had supported her anyway had she clung to power while her state and family was in financial and political ruins.
The quitter meme is just a desperate line of attack because Palin didn't follow the political rulebook and do what most politicians would have done at the time. She is truly an unconventional, unprecedented politician and that simply scares the bejeezus out of folks here who want a nice pleasant moderate Republican to win the nomination and inevitably get whooped by the media & Dems.
Yeah, it's really hurting her right now isn't it?
A: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America...
Damn facts, pesky little things, aren't they...sweetie.
She’s not running yet. And she probably won’t run.
That doesn't matter to the Palin bashers. It's well documented by John Ziegler and Naked News Empire that Obama administration hacks used leftist bloggers to try and bring Sarah down, but she outwitted them by resigning. That's why they're using the quitter meme, because Sarah pulled the rug out from under them.
I just find it fascinating that an elected official is criticized for resigning. It wasn't like Palin had no one to replace her. Isn't that what we've always dreamed of?
Why don’t you go find the several threads on FR on your own, or visit C4P?

I really doubt that. The "quitter meme" is something that goes far beyond "inside politics" circles. It's something you hear from people who really aren't all that interested in politics, and it's something that will be brought up a lot by Democrats if Sarah is nominated.
I'd say it's the other way around. You have to be really into politics and Palin to think that the whole "quitter" thing doesn't matter or that it's only Beltway Kristol types who care about Palin's resignation. Of course people who would be against Palin in any case talk about things that would hurt her, but it resonates with many people who might otherwise vote for Sarah.
She is running. Palin is not attacking Obama's policies & giving international speeches for nothing. She has said numerous times that if no other Republican steps up, she will. The road through the WH goes through Sarah Palin, because no Republican will win without her support or endorsement. I for one, will not support anyone else besides Palin or whoever she endorses if by chance she doesn't run. This prevents the liberals from picking our candidate, and that Sarah's stand on the issues get heard.
IOW...you can’t.
You think people will care about that, considering gas will be over $5 a gallon and food prices will skyrocket?
I will ask you again:
Do you think the site owner would support someone who is for any kind of amnesty?
In that case, probably not, but the quitting thing didn't help Palin with a lot of voters who might otherwise have supported her. Neither did the reality show.
A lot of fans want to think that the people just love her and it's only elites who dislike her, but a lot of ordinary voters pick up on what late night comedians say about her -- or have their own negative reactions to her.
Of course it's a long way to the next election, but I'd be wary of assuming that Main Street America is dying to vote for her.
You made a claim but won’t back it up with what you say are easy to find sources...I don’t believe that what you claim is true.
Well, we're just over 8 months from finding out if you're correct. I for one will be glad to have it out of the way.
But wanting someone else to do your research... how very liberal of you.

Then do it. You made the statement, back it up. We know you won't because we both know that in those same interviews after she says no amnesty she still calls for a path to citezenship or a federal registry that lets them stay in the country.
btw...name calling and SHOUTING are for the schoolyard.
