Kristol: Palin probably won't, shouldn't be nominee
Politico ^ | March 230, 2011 | Ben Smith

Posted on 03/23/2011 9:47:13 AM PDT by EveningStar

Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol was among Sarah Palin's earliest Washington admirers, and helped bring her to the national stage, but he said this week that while he still admires her, he questions her choices and doesn't think she should be the Republican nominee for president.

This explanation should not be necessary, but apparently it is.

Chappaquiddick ended Ted Kennedy’s presidential ambitions.

The resignation probably ended Sarah Palin’s presidential ambitions.

There is no comparison between the character of Palin and that of Teddy.

Palin is far above Kennedy in matters of character.

We know where Ted Kennedy went after he died. We know that Sarah Palin will be going to a different place after she passes.

From Palin-Univision TV interview...

Q: So you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

A: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America...

Keep reaching. You aren’t getting anywhere, but the effort ought to make you feel better.

Chappaquiddick ended Ted Kennedy’s presidential ambitions.
The resignation probably ended Sarah Palin’s presidential ambitions.

When you make a silly comparison, of course explanation is necessary.

Ted Kennedy DID run for President, eleven years after Chappaquiddick. He was beaten in the primary by Jimmy Carter (the second worst President in U.S. history, but I digress). So, his presidential aspirations were NOT thwarted by his cowardly act in 1969.

Sarah Palin's resignation as Governor will be slammed and belittled by the mainstream press. Who expected anything else? If not that, they will dream up fifteen other reasons, real and imagined, why she is unelectable.

Meanwhile, she is doing everything right (travel to India and Israel this week are perfect examples) to position herself for a good run.

Go Sarah, go!!

The resignation didn’t end Sarah Palin’s presidential ambitions, it most likely saved it.....The Obama Adminstration was going after her personally to destroy her and she removed herself from office not just to save herself but most importantly to save all that she worked for on behave of her state....it will be found that she sacrifice herself for the better, and yes it will come out that the Obama Adminstration was behind the dirty tricks against her - she said so in December on the Denise Miller radio show, so obviously she has the goods on them and apparently there were elements of the MSM involved as well and it will propel her into the nomination

“Like it or not, quitting the Governorship was Sarah Palin’s Chappaquiddick.”

If it were, we couldn’t seriously complain about the media/Dems/Rino elite choosing our nominees. Chappaquiddick was a self inflected wound stemming from the amoral life of Ted Kennedy. Would that event have even happened if Teddy wasn’t a philandering drunk?

Resigning the Governorship was a response to a downright dirty political tactic employed by an amoral opposition to a rightous woman. Would it even have happened if Sarah hadn’t shown herself to be a powerful political force of national stature in the 2008 Presidential Campaign?

Sorry......you’re comparing apples and oranges.

Allowing the Alinski tactic of personal destruction to succeed in Palin’s or any one else’s case is a huge mistake on our part. Instead of joining in the destruction we (you) should be decrying the tactic....

Sarah Palin has demostrated for me, and I suspect most, the principles that 90% of us share in common. She above all appears to be real in her persona, that is, not a phony/self serving bone in her body.

Contrary to her detractors oft stated talking point, few, if any, of Sarah’s supporters believe that she is perfect/sainted.

She, like any other human, can, has, and will make mistakes. The times I’ve observered her make errors were also times I saw her learn and grow, and that is all any of us can reasonably expect of any other human.

No qualifications needed.....Sarah has my vote if she wants it.

Didn't Kristol support McCain over Bush in 2000?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Kristol

In the 2000 Presidential election, Kristol was a supporter of John McCain. In response to a question from a PBS reporter about the Republican primaries, he stated, "No. I had nothing against Governor Bush. I was inclined to prefer McCain. The reason I was inclined to prefer McCain was his leadership on foreign policy."

The only reason he ever defended Palin to begin with is because McCain chose her as his VP. It's dishonest to pass Kristol off as a Reagan conservative that now has seen the light and opposes her. Typical media hit piece.

“....given her ‘pathway to citizenship’ for illegals.....”

Like most PDSers you misstate her position in order to appear to have a legitimate complaint against her.....

Sarah said that she supports a pathway to citizenship for those that follow the law, meaning she supports legal immigration. Imagine that!.... a VP candidate that supports following the law!

Don’t look now sweetie, but your PDS slip is showing!

And you've apparently missed the countless interviews post election where she's said no amnesty. So I'll ask you again:

Do you really think the site owner would support someone who is for amnesty of any kind?

Do you really think Rush Limbaugh would support someone who is for amnesty of any kind?

Do you really think Mark Levin would support someone who is for amnesty of any kind?

But it didn't end his political career.

Look, I don't think she's going to run. Do I want her too? You betcha ya.

But the 'she quit' line is so tired. If I hired someone to do a job, and someone else was pulling that person away from the job they were hired to do, I'd be pissed as all get out- especially if they were being paid out of my pocket.

And had she stayed, how long before she was beat up for NOT doing her job because she was so tied up in frivolous lawsuits?

I get people don't like her, won't vote for her, etc. But the the quit thing? Come on. It was the ethically right thing to do. How many times have we screamed about Obama off playing golf, partying, etc. and not doing his job?

“History tells us that Chappaquiddick did NOT end teddy’s career. That is fact.”

Agreed.

If it had we wouldn’t have had, Obamacare (you think the Demo congess came up with that legislation all 2,00+ pages overnight? they just dusted off Teddy’s Nation Healthcare crap and added a few modifications.), 1980’s illegal imigrant amenesty, the campaign of personal destruction being waged, even today, against Clarence Thomas, No Child left Behind, ad nausium.....

The point is that Chappiquiddick and Palin have no business in the same sentence......

One example, she quit the governorship.

No one is disputing that bub. But you're too lazy to go behind the story as to why she did.

Like it or not. She chose to pursue the golden ring.

No, she chose to protect her family and state from financial annihilation. If she would have been millions in debt at the end of her term and politically ruined, would you still have supported her?
