I agree with him. If American blood and treasure is to be spent, let congress, assembled, declare it war. It's only Constitutional.

Kucinich, an outspoken opponent to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, said in a statement that the president does not have the Constitutional power to unilaterally declare war

I give him credit for standing up for what he believes in and not playing politics. (Notice that I carefully crafted my words in such a way as to not type Kucinich, a word I refuse to type or utter. .... darn it!).

No point, there won’t be any military strikes regardless of what Congress does.

Marxist Barry could care less about anything constitutional.

Obama only makes tough decisions on his NCAA picks.

Try this one out to see how low this country's president has acquiesced:

Zer0's NCAA picks audio mixed with world news reports--

Barry must be thrilled. Time for some hoops. Time for some ice cream. Time for a swim. Up yours America.

There's so much to hammer with this administration.

With record unemployment, an unfathomable budget deficit, and $4 gallon gas, Zer0's a sitting duck. Jimmy Carter all over again.

Time to step up Republicans!

Been along time since congress officially declared war. I’m curious if those that say there is no requirement for congressional approval also believe there is no requirement for placing US forces under UN direction?

This politician is right. Ron Paul also noted how the President can not declare war. The Constitution states the only Congress has the power to declare war.

Of course it is true that only Congress can declare war. But the present can order military action without the consent of Congress for a limited period of time as authorized by the War Powers act.

He can do anything he wants for 60 days and must return a report back to Congress on the status, goals and required monies to continue aggression.

Just don’t fund it.

I say leave Qaddahfi there for now. We have no idea what he is going to be with and we got plenty of other countries that are already in that situation.

Here is the illustrious Senator Graham: “They have my authorization. You can’t have 535 commander in chiefs,” Graham said. “I would like to have a vote in the floor when we get back saying they did the right thing. But that shouldn’t restrict the president from taking timely action.”

http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2011/03/17/inside_classified_hill_briefing_administration_spells_out_war_plan_for_libya Kucinich is right... Congress should be deciding this, not Obama.

War is an act of the People (acting through their representatives in Congress assembled).

The construction of a Presidency whose occupant can act in the name of the People, or on behalf of the People (as if he embodied their sovereignty) has been a disaster.

Of course military action in Libya (or Serbia, or Iraq, or Vietnam) requires action by Congress.
