JUPITER — Toward the end of a 90-minute audience Q&A session at Tuesday night’s town hall meeting, U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation, was asked by former Indian Trail Improvement District board member Christopher Karch whether President Obama is “legally there or not.”“Who is going to tell us who this man is? Is he legally there or not?” said Karch. “What are we going to do to ensure that, if he isn’t legally there, it doesn’t happen again?”
Said West: “I will tell you this: That is the dog chasing its tail. The most important thing is, it’s the policies. That’s what we have to be standing on.”
The crowd of about 400 applauded, but Karch wasn’t satisfied.
“But if he’s not, it’s treason,” Karch said.
Said West: “You will waste more time worrying yourself to death about that instead of making sure that you expand the majority in the House of Representatives, you win back the U.S. Senate so that you can stand against the policies that are emanating out of the White House…
“What is your objective? Your objective is getting back to a constitutional republic principles and values. If you spend your time worrying about someone’s citizenship, you will never get to that objective.”
West didn’t offer his own opinion on Obama’s citizenship during the public forum. So PostOnPolitics asked him after the meeting.
“He is a citizen. He’s the president. I mean, that’s all I know. I am concerned about his policies,” West said.
I agree. I’ve had my suspicions all along. It started when he refused to support the Florida Personhood Amendment.
You ignore your flanks you lose. You make assumptions only you are knowledgeable of battle, political or not, you lose.
That argument aside....:o)
One main battle I would ask any conservative, polidiot or not, to fight would to be cut funding of the insane socialist agenda if they can. They may pass such. Doesn’t mean we “have” to buy it. That IMO is best for now. Cut their purse strings.
I do not know Mr West. Does he have an established political record or is he new to politics ?
Re-read that quote, he corrected himself, meant to say ‘President’ and we all know he, unfortunately, is the president.
Besides this could be a huge trap, Rush mentioned this some time ago, Obumbler could be sitting on that birth certificate waiting for the right time to pull the rug out from everyone, the conservative movement can’t afford for their best guys to get caught in that, so West is playing it safe as he should.
Just doing my citizen duty, which involves before anything else a simple demand that every officer of government, in every branch, and at every level, keep their oath of office.
This is not unreasonable or radical.
“- if it comes down to it a birth certificate will be found.
.
With modern technology it can immediately be debunked and then the sh*t will really hit the fan. A whole bunch of people will end up in jail.
You have FRmail. ;*)
As soon as he mentions the birther thing it will never leave him and the press will win/ let him use tact and keep the focus.
We are also in agreement that Obama has spent millions (and gotten the money to spend those millions from somewhere) for unknown reasons.
However, you do need a lesson on political strategy.
Assuming the Dems were the ones that spent the money for lawyers to keep Obama’s personal documentation secret, they were able to use that to get Obama elected by portraying birthers as Republican racists.
Make no mistake, portraying Republicans as racists played a substantial part in getting Obama elected the first time around. If it turns out, regardless of Obama’s philisophical positions throughout his life, that he was always eligible and it never should have been questioned, it will play a huge part in getting elected in 2012.
And it would have been well spent.
< \extreme sarcasm>
I wish more people would look carefully at some of the players in the "birther movement".
* Phil Berg, a Hillary Clinton supporter.
* Orly Taitz, who on more than one occasion has asked the United Nations to interveen in our judicial system on behalf of "birther" issues. Does that sound conservative to you?
There are others, including convicted criminals and those who are happy to put up the ol' "Paypal" button, asking for donations, but those are enough to prove a point.
Every time a politician comes out in favor of fighting Obama on the actual issues, people inevitably call him/her a RINO and swear they'll never vote for them, which is exactly what the liberals eat up with a spoon.
We still have open primaries and we still have a "You're next" mentality at the top of the party, making Mitt Romney a good bet for the nomination, which makes me sick to my stomach. We still have a Congress which is unwilling to make serious cuts to the budget; now Boehner has indicated that he's willing to raise the debt ceiling in exchange for "cuts". Now Obama's talking gun control. He managed to ram through health care "reform". Nothing has been done on immigration. Nothing has been done on the debt except run it through the roof. Millions are unemployed. Food prices are through the roof. Gas prices are through the roof. Housing prices are in the toilet.
Court after court after court has turned down "birther" lawsuits, but that doesn't keep sites like WND from writing breathless "articles" every time another case is submitted to SCOTUS. It also doesn't keep them from begging for donations for their advertising in the form of the "Where's the Birth Certificate?" billboards (ever noticed that their name and url is conveniently located on the billboards?).
So yeah. Allen West is a RINO. So is Sarah Palin. So is every person who doesn't jump on the bandwagon.
And every member of Congress, judges at every level, members of the military who continue to serve under Obama, voters, citizens... anyone who disagrees is a traitor and an "O-Bot" and a really bad person.
Liberals have to be loving every moment of it.
In 1 year, 7 months, and 22 days, we elect a new president. What have we accomplished?
Actually sir your statement is factually incorrect. It has been proven that Obama is NOT a natural born citizen. This is due to the FACT his dad was not a citizen, which BTW is a requirement.
NO GODDAMIT~! I WANT TO KNOW HOW WE GOT THIS TRAITOR IN THE FIRST PLACE???
THERE IS *MORE* THAN ENOUGH SUSPICIOUS EVIDENCE
DO YOU HEAR ME??
MORE THAN ENOUGH~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit ~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(thanks i feel better now)
Just what do you expect when you won't hold elected officials to the simplest requirements of their oath of office?
West’s point is the birth certificate issue is a distraction, and focusing on 0bama’s policies will bear more fruit.
LOL
(I’m glad that felt better) ;)
He's right. A GOP challenger, no matter who he/she is, will get nowhere campaigning on that subject. His policies are enough of a target-rich environment.
They’d get a lot further focusing on their constitutional responsibilities than focusing on Obama’s policies.
The only thing the "birthers" (gawd, I hate that term, it just plays to the Left) have ever requested is proof. Simply proof. All the obfuscation has worked against the BamBam supporters. It's just the typical playbook of the Left that has brought in all the racism and crap. And that's getting very old among the populace. So, even if "proof" appears now, it will seem either a) ludicrous that it was hidden for so long or b) phoney.
So here it comes... the requisite “West is a RINO” mantra.
What good is it to have laws if they are not enforced?
Men who refuse to see this are part of the problem and not the solution.
West seems like a very smart man. I’m disappointed but without truth you have nothing!
