Quake moved Japan coast 8 feet; shifted Earth's axis

The powerful earthquake that unleashed a devastating tsunami Friday appears to have moved the main island of Japan by 8 feet (2.4 meters) and shifted the Earth on its axis.

"At this point, we know that one GPS station moved (8 feet), and we have seen a map from GSI (Geospatial Information Authority) in Japan showing the pattern of shift over a large area is consistent with about that much shift of the land mass," said Kenneth Hudnut, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Reports from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Italy estimated the 8.9-magnitude quake shifted the planet on its axis by nearly 4 inches (10 centimeters).

Yeah because large earthquakes and conflict only came about sometime last Thursday?

If we had 24 hour news in the past 5 centuries, you would have just as many self-centered people thinking all of the bigger and more deadly disasters was all about them and God too.

This is because of the accelerated pole shift.

The photo on the fault line seemed to indicate a difference to my eye of roughly 4 feet in elevation. Up lift?

The fault line was pretty much down the middle of the road

It’s nothing.

The Earth Axis always moves. It moves in a huge circle every 20,000 some odd years, and little quakes shift it to and fro all the time.

This wasn’t even the largest quake “recorded” so whatever little shift occurs isn’t anything compared to ones that were larger.

All of these people breaking out their bibles, and hoping that this means Jesus will be coming soon to their BBQ, are just being silly and overly dramatic.

Well, I’d cede that Jesus has a more important agenda at his return than backyard barbecues.

But the attention factor has to mean something in the large scheme of things.

On FR, “like” is spelled “BTTT” or “bump”

Not much. A shift of a few feet in the poles is like you suddenly experiencing the seasons of your next door neighbor, in a the-houses-are-a-bit-too-close subdivision.

The recent Chilean earthquake also impacted the earth axis, but, IIRC, it was something like 8mm.

I think it also impacted the rotation by a few milliseconds.

You had better buy a Bible right now and make that choice, yourself!

Read the book of John first.

Umm, I know someone who just delivered over 5000 Bibles to China, hand delivered, the Gospel is already being taught there and has for some time.

Does anyone know how far inland the tsunami went?

I saw one post in one of the many threads yesterday that said the waves went up to 6 miles inland in Japan. That was considered extreme and very unusual.

Nothing more than there really isn’t anything else going on right now to dominate the news cycle.

“Pretty soon people will start harping about “Crustal plate displacement” or something like that.”

They are already. They are also talking about the “black planet” (hidden behind the sun) and when it appears the earth will shift on it’s axis, then the end is near within 7 1/2 weeks. Something like that.

No kidding....:)
