Good luck. Your aftershocks are even decent sized quakes.

Nothing broken.... oh, it is shaking about 4 right now again.. (side to side)..
almost everything fell off of whatever it was on..

news just said 8.4..

I was holding against (pushing) the walls in the toilet.. I could actually feel the walls in the toilet being a different level.. was scary.

Haven’t been outside yet.. too worried about power lines, but I am on higher ground, although I am on the coast.

The shots of cars being caught up by the tsunami are absolutely horrifying. I’ve never seen anything like it, ever.

I live in an area of the U.S. that is prone to subduction earthquakes; the coastline drops about twenty feet, the magnitude estimated is about 9+. They happen every, oh, 268 years or so. We are overdue.

Definitely not looking forward to the experience.

As bad as Northridge was and it was BAD, just imagine if it had happened instead of 4:30 in the morning, at 1pm in the afternoon, the death toll would have been much higher. We didn’t have power for three days..I can’t even imagine a 8.9 quake..this whole darn state would be in the ocean..I don’t blame you for moving to Texas, Texas sounds like a great place to live

Did you see the last live coverage?

The water just came in and took out several buildings and slapped them away like toys.

It is like a movie (like “2012”) but is happening in real time.

If you are talking about Cascadia, the average interval is 570 years or so, the minimum is 390.

Last big one was Jan 26, 1700.

It’s a very reasonable assumption to think we are pretty much totally safe until at least the minimum has passed which is another 80 years...

All I can say is that as bad as it was thank God it happened early in the morning. My Mom had an appointment that morning at our local Kaiser, turns out the parking lot collapsed during the quake, imagine if it had happened during the day..6.9 scared the holy hell outta me, if we ever had an 8.9 here, forget about it, no amount of earthquake preparation could save us

As I have mentioned, I live 3 miles from the Northridge epicenter. It was pretty damn bad — I thought this was The Big One and that we would die. Seriously, I thought we were about to die.

I can only imagine what is happening for the Japanese folk...
