From the Heritage foundation:

...the racial composition of the military is similar to that of the civilian population, although whites and blacks are slightly overrepresented among enlisted recruits.

Obama is the Commander in Chief.... You KNOW it's coming from him. Yeah this will unite the country for sure... Forget how qualified a person is let's look at their skin color. Unreal...

How many non-affirmative action officers do we have?

It's because of silly sh!t like this that Napoleon was able to march through Europe.

The French referred to it as Ancien Regime...basically old-school organization and methods to select senior commanders.

The French army cut through those old-style militaries like a hot knife through butter.

Well, it is an all volunteer force, so the reason may be that white men tend to be the majority in the military.

We had several affirmative action promotions, and most of them were total disasters. One was a maintenance officer and he kept a DA Form 2404 (Maintenance Inspection Worksheet) under the Plexiglas on his desk so he would not misspell maintenance. That is NOT a joke.

As far as I can see these people talking about diversity are total #$@&@#%#, and I am not kidding either. The important fact is that there are women and minorities who make it by merit to become officers. Whether or not it’s proportional, that’s a societal issue. I’ll just put my common sense thinking cap on for a minute or so and figure that people from these minorities might need some serious help getting families back together and getting off the drugs, and more of the racial minorities would have less of a problem getting into the service, much less becoming officers as well. Sheesh, are these guys suggesting this in the process taking a “trip” (high on drugs) or something?

# 51 - One of your most important non-rhyming post.
But tell me Leni, how could the EPA not deserve a
individual shaming? Technically it's ‘government’.
The EPA is like the hair; always changing, unruly
and never stops growing.

You don’t get to make recommendations to the military until you walk point for a year in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan. Let us know where you want to be buried first.

I don’t even want to read beyond the 1st few comments. Lets be fair, lets apply affirmative action to the military. We can balance the good leadership with inept leadership. Hey does it matter anymore?

The WWII types will be spinning in their graves over this Bravo Sierra that they are trying to push. DADT leaders coming too. At the rate they are going with these military changes, I don’t think we as a country will survive any future wars. At this rate in 25-50 years we’ll be the new Zimbabwe anyway. I hope hell has Fox TV so I can watch what is going on by then.

To become a top officer you have to spend 30+ years in the military and have gone to West Point or the likes for 4 years. It can not be fixed over night.

This is the exact same thinking that lead to Maj. Nidal Hassan. The Republic is failing just like the Roman Empire. Not only we need to remove the Obama administration, we’re going to need to fire a lot of top brass. The mind of these people has been corrupted beyond hope.

I agree,

Don't have to put up with this BS.

Bottom line: The military is one of the last bastions of the patriarchal society. For the feminist and LBGT community this is all about symbolism and affirmation.

These panels arrive at contrived conclusions. It makes about as much sense as saying 100% of all people that breast feed are women. What they are really saying with their bogus statistics is that based on some arbitrary demographic ideal they think represents “diversity” the structures for hiring, training, promoting (Which all today already have built in quota's they call “goals”) need reshuffled. Specifically now we need to change the structure of the force so that women can enter occupational roles they are not suited for, since this would change the design to remove what they would regard a “glass ceiling.” After all, support or combat service support will never be in charge of operations / combat arms. The BDE, Division, Corps commander and the Chief of staff will hence always be male otherwise.

This upside down thinking is possible because nothing has a purpose or reason for being the way it is. In modern social theories as taught in academia and preached by these leaders of these social movements it's all about some “conflict theory.” I.e. the third world is poor because of exploitation by the industrialized nations, women are held back by men, blacks by whites, young by old......bla bla bla. Nothing has a reason for being the way it is in the land of GI Jane and if you dare question their motives or end-state, worse yet if you state that possibly things are the way they are for a purpose, you'll simply be marginalized by accusations of sexism, racism, xenophobia or homophobia, you'll be drowned out by the screams and yells of the modern open minded self proclaimed intellectuals that live in a bubble removed from reality.

Here's reality:

Woman are lighter, smaller, have a smaller blood volume, have generally less muscle mass by weight, a higher fat content by weight, broader hips (for child birth but this affects their ability to run) and all equipment is designed for an average male of a specific height and weight.

They are more likely to be raped when taken prisoner.

They are more likely to become victimized by their own and it is unrealistic to hold commands accountable for the behavior of of their people 24/7/365 when you set the conditions for this to happen.

Interaction with locals often becomes an issue because they won't accept a female soldier training or giving commands.

Female retention is worse. Of course some will argue this is proof of discrimination, but in reality this has to do with marriage, children and the fact that a physically demanding and rough job like the Army has a very different aging effect on women vs. men.

You can't blame women for getting pregnant and it's a reality that the DoD already today battles the real issue of having many women become non deploy-able shortly before and during deployments.

The additional costs associated in infrastructure is an issue as well.

You have an issue with disease when hygiene breaks down, i.e. bladder and kidney infections.

The job requires a physical performance, i.e. marching 12 miles and digging in, physically dominating another man with brute force, picking up a 155mm shell, kicking open a door, repairing a tank track, setting up and firing a 120mm towed mortar, throwing and flipping around 45 pound 120mm shells in an M1.......

It is entirely unrealistic to guarantee a woman privacy in a combat arms environment where you eat sleep and $hit together, either from the tank or within a patrol base. What are we going to do? Install a privacy curtain on a tank? Maybe have a portalet company set up toilets before we go to war in areas we think we might fight? lol

Combat arms are a job for young, healthy, heterosexual aggressive men. I am neither healthy nor young, and it's not a place for me anymore, but you can't tell anyone “no” nowadays. We're all the same, even though everyone knows we're not and that's why you have double standards on PT tests.....etc. The policy makers, living in a bureaucratic, stable, safe world with all it's modern conveniences confuse their situation and assume this is the standard, that in a war zone is sort of like when they get a paper cut or lift a pen. They are about as ignorant as the modern youth that has no concept of even where their food comes from! That's why such ignorant ideas based on some social egalitarian philosophy are adopted. Those like Casey unfortunately are simply stooges and follow the flag on the battle field as in many years past. They know from which way the wind is blowing.

Diversity = Affirmative Action = preference based on race rather than qualifications. Hasn’t worked yet, and never will. It’s all about getting whitey, nothing more and nothing less.
