Intruder calls 911, afraid homeowner may have gun By the CNN Wire Staff
(CNN) -- This time it was the intruder who called 911.
A man who broke into a house in Portland, Oregon, called police -- afraid the homeowner may have a gun.
The suspect, Timothy James Chapek, was in the bathroom taking a shower when the homeowner returned to the house Monday night, Portland police said in a statement.
Accompanied by two German shepherds, the homeowner asked Chapek what he was doing in the house.
Chapek locked himself in the bathroom and made an emergency call, police said. He said he had broken into the house, the owner had come home, and that he was concerned the owner might have a gun.
The homeowner also called the police to report that he had found a man in the house.

Wow. That’s just dumb.
Homeowner doesn’t need a gun,the German Shepherds will take care of business.
When I read the headline, my first reaction was “Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be?”
The police show up, shoot the dogs, tackle and handcuff the homeowner while the burglar stands there and says “that’s him! that’s him! he might have a GUN!”
And he thought he would get clean away. :)

I would also suggest he take the second choice because my trigger finger was shaking and I wasn't sure I could control it.

No offense, but you haven’t been paying attention to some recent news stories here in the US. Of course, it’s bound to happen, eventually, everywhere, that right and wrong get turned on their heads.

Come on - you’d have to go to Home Depot, get a new door, etc...
The only problem are the Shepherds. Chances are they would have aimed for the bare butt... great biting target. Two of them together = more biting power.

I would have loved to see the prankster come out of the bathroom with the cops there. Depends on OR law though. This might not be a crime in Oregon if the door was left open.

LOL! I am sure they share all their squeak toys as well. I guess the intruder would be a human squeak toy!
