Believes U.S. Must Limit Consumption of Meat to Alleviate Global Hunger (Moonbats gone Wild!)
The San Leandro Times ^ | 3-3-11 | San Leandro Times

Editor:

The popular revolutions we are witnessing in the Middle East, while inspired by a desire for personal freedom and self-determination, are certainly sustained by a pervasive hunger pan-demic, particularly among the world’s less privileged populations.

Since last December, skyrocketing demand for food and dwindling supplies have driven the global Food Price Index to new records. Supplies have suffered from catastrophic floods and droughts linked to global warming and from gradual depletion of groundwater aquifers. Demand has been fueled by unchecked population growth and by diversion of massive amounts of grains into biofuel and meat production.

Hunger afflicts nearly one billion people worldwide, mostly women and children. It feeds massive popular migrations and unrest that, sooner or later, will affect us all.

Some of the causes of global hunger are beyond our personal control. But, as the world’s highest meat consumers, we have a special obligation to free up some grains for the hungry by limiting our own consumption.

With the broad availability of delicious and nutritious meat and dairy alternatives in every supermarket, there is no reason to delay. Entering “live vegan” in a search engine returns lots of good guidance.

Ethanol and Quantitative Easing are doing their share in hurting the poor.

Grain or meat, just what are we talking about? can the poor people who are starving afford to buy meat? i doubt if they can even afford to buy bread so how is it going to help them if we start eating less meat?

The truly poor people could not buy meat if the price went down to the price of bread so what good would it do them for us to lesson our meat intake?

One thing it might do would be to put our cattle, and other meat producers out of business, and most likely that would cause a domino affect and cause the same thing here as has happened to cause the hunger in other places.

I don,t have the answer but i do not think that going any farther in destroying this country would help feed any one.

“I just became a vegan about two weeks ago...”

That is your choice and if you are happy with it then fine. However, forcing people to consume less meat is not an option. People should be free to eat what they like without government interference. IMHO

They never explain why my not eating something will cause that food to go to someone who is starving.

If you don't eat everything on your plate, children in China will go hungry. :)

Or maybe if we would stop encouraging corn production to be used as ethanol, the price of corn would go down.

If this person is so concerned about hunger, what would feed a person better, a plate of vegetables or a big steak?

There is definite direct link from eating meat and heart disease

Yes, that why all the American Indians, who ate nothing but meat, died from heart disease. They actually didn't, but hey. Let's not let facts get in the way of vegan propaganda.

I agree and nothing I wrote would imply otherwise...

Of course I know my ldl, hdl, triglycerides...I have had two heart attacks. But, here check out the facts and inform your physician: http://www.chiphealth.com/health_topics/topics/cholesterol_hero_and_villain.php

BTW, eating a healthy diet (non animal)...low fat (15%) and no added sugar will bring all your numbers into very healthy lines...that is one reason this “diet” causes reversal of heart disease (plaque buildup) and diabetes. It is way more powerful and successful than any drug every created...and it makes you feel younger and more energetic as well.

Like I said...everyone is different....some of us NEED protein....and I only (pretty much) eat ORGANIC grass fed meats/chicken etc... there is a difference in the ALA’s...etc...Best to you in dealing with your health challenges.

I checked the sponsors of that link you referred me to....interesting.

“Inform MY physician?” HAHAHAHAHa....I would trust my doc over yours in a heartbeat.

Organic doesn’t do anything for you my friend...it is the fat that is hurting you.

You don’t have to trust my doctor or your doctor...look up the info, the research that has been done. It is really quite simple. But, to tell you the truth I really don’t care if you want to eat high fat diet and kill yourself, I don’t really care if you insist on drinking yourself to death or do crack. So, let’s end this stupidity...you want to eat high fat diet and pretend you very high cholesterol level is not hurting you...good for you chump. One thing to consider though, if your doctor doesn’t care about your health enough to tell you your diet is hurting you...maybe you should get a good doctor.

You bet, if they were serious that would be the best thing if all of them would do it, i do not think they would be missed much.

Do you know who my doc is? Maybe you should listen to the other guy (who I believe is a doc) who posted to you on this thread)....as I said...different people have different needs. I’m not forcing MY way of eating on you, and you don’t need to try and force yours.....been there, done that. Thanks.
