Election time! Time to put on the “centrist” face in the hope of fooling enough people to reelect him.

the tribunals are an "important tool in combating international terrorists."

When O'bama does it, they are "an important tool".

When Bush did it, the USSC said it was unconstitutional, and libs said it was dictatorial.

Wonder which way the PostHuffers and their ilk are going to blow.

And imagine it took the smartest man in DC only two years to figure out how to handle the situation.

For all the self-righteous thunder the left produced we see, once again, that Bush was right. And once again, we see all this moral indignation about the trials, Valerie Plame, Gitmo, etc. was nothing more than a raw effort to leverage political power by cursing Bush/Republicans and making Democrats look like sainted knights.
It was all political theatre with the corrupt MSM actively participating.

Wait did not he say that Guantanamo would be closed in 1 year. Also that the prisoners had a right to a civilian trial. now another Executive Order ordering the trials to resume because the would reduce terrorism.

Terrorism not man caused disasters. Has the Executive Order been written regarding the Riules Of Engagement been changed too.

The president has no understanding what it is like to be in battle, or does not have the understanding of a building laying on top of him when the terrorist do blow up the building.

I wish I had it in my power to issue an Executive Order to Obama. ‘Be Quiet, step away from the golf course and get your head out of your butt and get real idiot. Stuff your Executive Orders in your Golf Bag. The Constitution is the Rule of Law. You so called law school graduate have no understanding of the US Constitution. Do America a favor RESIGN, and take your butt ugly wife and two daughters with you. When resigining tell Joe Biden to do the same. The American public we will allow a one way ticket to the country of your choice and you are allowed one suitcase of clothing, no money to leave the country and you will have to get a job, which country you decide to go to. No access to public funds nor Secret Service, you will be at the mercy of the country you settle in. You return to the US at anytime you will be arrested and incarcerated. Executive Immunity be hanged because you have no understanding of the founding of America. Go leave immediately.’

I intend to close Guantanamo, and I will follow through on that. I have said repeatedly that America doesn’t torture. And I’m gonna make sure that we don’t torture. Those are part and parcel of an effort to regain America’s moral stature in the world. ~ Barack Obama (On CBS 60 Minutes, November 16, 2008)

To overcome extremism, we must also be vigilant in upholding the values our troops defend – because there is no force in the world more powerful than the example of America. That is why I have ordered the closing of the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, and will seek swift and certain justice for captured terrorists – because living our values doesn’t make us weaker, it makes us safer and it makes us stronger. ~ BARACK OBAMA (Address to Joint Session of Congress, Feb. 24, 2009)

“There are no neat or easy answers here,” Obama said in a speech in which he pledged anew to clean up what he said was “quite simply a mess, a misguided experiment” at Guantanamo that he had inherited from the Bush administration.

“So the record is clear: Rather than keeping us safer, the prison at Guantanamo has weakened American national security. It is a rallying cry for our enemies.”

“That’s why, in the United States, we recently ordered the prison at Guantanamo Bay closed. That’s why we prohibited—without exception or equivocation—the use of torture. All of us have to change. And sometimes change is hard.”

“In other words, we went off course. And this is not my assessment alone. It was an assessment that was shared by the American people who nominated candidates for President from both major parties who, despite our many differences, called for a new approach—one that rejected torture and one that recognized the imperative of closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay.”

“In fact, part of the rationale for establishing Guantanamo in the first place was the misplaced notion that a prison there would be beyond the law—a proposition that the Supreme Court soundly rejected. Meanwhile, instead of serving as a tool to counter terrorism, Guantanamo became a symbol that helped al Qaeda recruit terrorists to its cause. Indeed, the existence of Guantanamo likely created more terrorists around the world than it ever detained.”
