Whatever happened to that Friday deadline for sending out some 12,000 “layoff” notices?

“...who declares their seats vacant? “

That would be ME! I declare them VACANT. Not only VACANT but VACUOUS!

Voting starts tomorrow at 8am. :)

I think they are walking a careful line against doing anything that might invite a court challenge (on process) until we see that Supreme Court Justice David Prosser is safely reelected.

They are going to have to return before 30 days are up because that is when the Gov can declare their seats vacant & hold new elections.

Do you have a link to support that statement?

Much appreciated...

I don't know where you get the 12,000 number. Walker sent out a notice for 1500 layoffs Friday as he said he would. Local governments have sent out many, many more notices. Maybe those add up to 12,000.

It would be even more pathetic if they all came back on the 29th day.

Block the roads to the Capital. Refuse them entry into the State. Anything to keep them out.

Dude, I live here and have followed this fight since it began. Since the Rats fled, there is NO compromise or deal in the works. Walker will get his bill passed and that’ll be the beginning of the end of both the unions and the Democrats in Wisconsin.

There will be no more automatic union dues collection by the state of Wisconsin. Where the money is handed over to union bosses to spend on Democrats. It is total BS that any government should be a union dues collector and that the dues are compulsory. Maybe some freepers don't know that the union dues are deducted from the Gov't workers paycheck before he ever sees it

Without teachers and other Gov't workers being forced to pay union dues (part of collective bargaining agreements) the big money pot dries up. I predict only 33% of teachers will pay voluntary union dues

I certainly hope you’re right. I do not want us to lose this fight. It would be a disaster and encourage all the other clowns out there to run and protest and, oh, horrible, oh, horrible, most horrible.

Michael Moore might return.

They will return as soon as all the state unions make their sweetheart deals with their pals across the negotiating tables all over our state.

From tiny villiage to Madison itself, union contracts are being rushed through while the 14 are gone. That is WHY they are gone. They are stopping Walker’s bill by being absent. While they are absent and the bill cannot be voted on, the unions are signing contracts, some for up to 3 years long. This makes the budget fix useless for now. The union thugs get their salary and bennies just like always and we taxpayers are still screwed.

The 14 should be charged with fraud or theft or something(of our tax dollars) along with all those who signed these quick contracts that avoid the changes in the bill. They are stealing money from us.

“We Won” this election and they have rendered it useless by stopping the passage of the bill that will finally help us get out from under the high taxes from paying the state unions.

They have nullified the election.

The 14 will be back as soon as all the dirty deals are done and the unions once again avoid living in the financial reality that the private sector lives in.

They are all thieves. What they have done and are still doing while they make these fast contracts, should be illegal.

I’d hold off, lol. Wisconsin has been blue for so long, we are getting our first taste of redstate status.....the jury is out as to whether or not the electorate will go wobbly.

I always liked the fact that Democrats were so willing to punish people for making mistakes so early in life,to keep punishing them long afterwards and yet felt that past a certain point(a certain liberal point)consequences no longer need apply.

I hope every State in the Union, pun intended, comes up with similar measures to break this entente’s back.

I believe it was 1,200 (not 12,000) in first go around. Terminations effective 4/1, and I heard they were going out.

Your 1500 is correct, my error. However, they were not sent out. Instead, Friday notices were given to the unions of “possible layoffs starting early next month.” Once the unions are notified, the layoffs "could" start after 30 days.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/03/04/wisconsin-state-workers-brace-layoffs-amid-standoff/

"Without Senate action within 15 days, individual employees MAY begin to receive potential termination notifications,"
