They marched on Washington to reclaim civil rights.
They complained of voter intimidation at the polls.
They called for ethnic studies programs to promote racial pride.
They are, some say, the new face of racial oppression in this nation -- and their faces are white.
"We went from being a privileged group to all of a sudden becoming whites, the new victims,'' says Charles Gallagher, a sociologist at La Salle University in Pennsylvania who researches white racial attitudes and was baffled to find that whites see themselves as a minority.
"You have this perception out there that whites are no longer in control or the majority. Whites are the new minority group."
Call it racial jujitsu: A growing number of white Americans are acting like a racially oppressed majority. They are adopting the language and protest tactics of an embattled minority group, scholars and commentators say. They point to these signs of racial anxiety:
• A recent Public Religion Research Institute poll found 44% of Americans surveyed identify discrimination against whites as being just as big as bigotry aimed at blacks and other minorities. The poll found 61% of those identifying with the Tea Party held that view, as did 56% of Republicans and 57% of white evangelicals.

I wish that were true, and most whites may feel that way but the reality is most races don't.
To blacks and most Hispanics ethic pride, tribalism or whatever you want to call it trumps all. Freedom, Liberty, the Constitution are just meaningless terms to them. They will vote for their race over their country every time.

I wonder if when my grandfather became a citizen of the United States, it was explained to him that once he took the oath, he would share the blame for slavery and every oppression suffered by non-whites in America throughout history?

Go to any city of 100,000 or more people, with more than 20% being minorities. Then apply for work at the postal service, the transit authority, the county courthouse. See where that gets you.
Now apologize and pay reparations for being racist.

It doesn’t rise anywhere near the level of past wrongs committed in this country against Blacks, but there is deliberate discrimination in an attempt to blame innocent living Whites for the crimes of dead Whites.

Most large companies have quotas for hiring ‘minorities’ which amounts to anyone not a white male. Less qualified is ok. White is not ok.
Been through the Atlanta airport recently? There are essentially no whites working there.
Disenfranchised, fer sure. But we’ll fix that. We always do.
In the 2012 presidential election whites need to do what blacks did in 2008 and stick with their own race in massive (90+ percent) numbers. That’s all. Nothing to this whole “civil rights” thing. It’s easy. Next time, vote white.
In our area, Southern California, we hear “cracker” now. My daughter has taken to calling herself a “European-American”, to be consistent with her middle-school peers who are “hyphens”.
Oh yeah. I forgot about that one. The U.S. Attorney General’s Black Pampers boys calling us “crackers”. I guess it’s impossible to throw a racial slur at whitey.
How would you explain the legalized discrimination in terms of hiring/promotion (initially in the public sector, now forced on the private sector), college admissions?
It is legalized discrimination, and generates a lot of hate and division. On the flip side, it has done nothing for those it was to benefit, as they are treated as sub-humans by their “benefactors”. The soft bigotry of lowered expectations has damaged them; nobody takes them seriously, and as long as this situation exists, any smart person should question their intelligence and capabilities. Would you like one of these potential tokens operating on a loved one?

You’re absolutely right; even worse, in my town the civil servants were forced (via NAACP lawsuit) to allow Newark residents to apply, while Newark kept a residency requirement which precludes our residents from applying there. This is open war on whites - and has done nothing to benefit the people it was supposed to aid. They are now legally inferior, and this includes Latinos, women, etc.
