BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) -- Baton-wielding police in riot gear are facing off with a growing number of protesters lined up at the University of California, Berkeley where other protesters have chained themselves together on the ledge of a building.
Television video shows hundreds of yelling and chanting demonstrators. The protest Thursday comes after university police said 17 people were arrested late Wednesday after refusing to leave a campus building during a protest against state education cuts.

CAMPUS police arrested people? I must have read that wrong. Rent-a cops doing the jobs real police won’t do in WI? BTW, want to bet that the protesters aren’t undergrads, but communist “townies” and useless grad students getting their Phds in “social justice”? And another wager is that the protesters are ALL white and come from well-to-do families. I’ve never seen a black environmentalist at a rally.
I think you have a misunderstanding here. Police are police; if an agency uses the title "Police" whether it's city, county, district, school, railroad, transit, etc, they are police per whatever state's penal code. They are not "rent-a-cops," they are cops. Oh, and this story is about CA not WI. :)

I truly hope there is never another terrorist attack on this nation again. However, if there is one I hope it is in Berkeley and they only take out leftists.
If they had not had their education cut, they would be conservatives, not liberals. Their education was cut from education to indoctrination.

Oh, I know it’s CA. I was being a smartass about “rent-a-cops”. On the show Campus Police, you should see the students dissing campus cops, even though they have full,lawful arrest powers and carry guns. And they DO take students to jail.
MSM is hoping the entire nation will not see the sad state of state finances. They have portrayed the WI situation as class war-fare, not a state budget issue. Class war-fare gets air time; real problems get swept under the rug.
As far as race, I haven't seen any black demonstrators. Just Peruvian capped neandrtharals banging on drums.
