Anjem Choudary, the extremist British Muslim who planned to rally in front of the White House today to call for the imposition of Muslim sharia law on the United States has announced he is cancelling the rally.
In a video statement posted to Sharia4America.com, Choudary cites several reasons for the cancellation, among them blaming the media for distorting his message in advance of the rally and advice received from fellow Muslims to postpone the protest. Choudary claims he is postponing the rally, but does not mention when or under what conditions he will reschedule it.
The video statement is about thirteen minutes long. I haven't listened to the whole video yet.
Choudary makes his excuses for canceling in the first two or so minutes. At the end, near the 12:30 mark, he says the rally is postponed "Until we gather even more Muslims and until the message is not distorted by the media and we can rally the Islamic movements and Islamic organizations to make an even bigger push for the shariah to be implemented not only in America but also in the rest of the Western world and indeed in the Muslim countries."

How do you boil a frog? If you throw a frog in a pan of hot water, he will jump out. The idea is to heat the water slowly - and the frog will sit and wait - not realizing the danger until he is too weak to jump from the pan.
That’s all that is happening. If they throw a big bash now - they will hurt their cause. They need to rot us more from within, before they attempt to topple the US of A. A few more years under Zero, and they will have a respectable mob - a few years after that and they may have a little success in isolated burgs and states. And like a cancer - they will continue to grow.
Excellent! I’m sure it was because of the level of oppposition; the cannier Muslims realized the American people still have too much backbone to roll over for an extremist advocating the overthrow of our government. I’m sure those Muslims warned Choudary not to proceed.
You have to give this guy credit for being open and overt about his plans. But even with this brutal honesty, far too many people insist on living with their heads in the sand.
Too bad. Maybe he would have woken up a few blissninnies who refuse to see the threat of Islam.
It would have been a clear tactical mistake to go ahead with the rally. The Islamists here have to keep a low profile and rely on the courts and the left to forward their ultimate agenda.
An overt demonstration of this kind would have served to do nothing but wake up the masses against them.
After the murders in Germany yesterday; this rally would have been very poor timing...

Frankly, I’m disappointed. Such a rally could have been highly useful intelligence for us, exposing many jihadists here in the US to the New Media. I think opposing this rally was a mistake on our part.
