Fox News says the United States has deployed some Marines and two amphibious ships to help with the evacuations in Libya.
The news comes one day after the U.S. moved naval and air forces closer to Libya and said all options were open, including patrols of the North African nation's skies to protect its citizens from their ruler, Muammar Qaddafi.
The Obama administration is demanding that Gadhafi relinquish power immediately.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton warned that Libya is at risk of collapsing into a "protracted civil war" amid increasingly violent clashes between the two sides.
On Tuesday, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice cast doubt on Qaddafi's sanity and ability to lead and said the international community will continue pressuring Qaddafi with embargos and sanctions until he steps down.

Heck, what's the big deal anyways about $10-15 a gallon for gas and perhaps AQAP repositioning in Libya out of the chaos and power vacuum, turning it into Taliban Afghanistan on the Meditteranean. I can handle it.
Mired? Gaddafy hangs by a thread now. Removing him is so easy, even a Frenchman could do it.
I really hope were not sending our overqualified Marines to take that crazy cat off the telephone pole.
This isnt our fight. Let them sort it out for themselves.
Yes, the USA is no longer a place of law. Gone are the days when President Jefferson urged the Congress to declare war on the Barbary Pirates.
It would also surprise people that the market is a global market, and the physical source of the oil isn’t everything—amounts and quality matter. Europe isn’t going to suddenly cut their consumption because of this—they’re going to replace from another source.
Now it looks like 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines, Camp Lejeune.
Prepare for an avalanche of “Libyan” refugees to be flown to the shores of America. Let me see, most Libyans are of what cult?
Then of course, there will be many from surrounding terrorist nations, who will hop aboard this massive transport to the U.S. Food, money, healthcare, and shelter await, them.
Here we go.
The Bam team is now making waves over Libya but in 2009-10 in Iran’s rebellion lots of crickets could be heard instead.
This is a RED on RED situation.
Why do we feel the need to insert BLUE into the fight?
Let them off each other and waste their resources.
None of the Libyan people are clean having known their government murdered our citizens: and then cheered for the murderer.
Wow, this seems like Jimmy Carter’s Big Iranian Rescue Adventure deja vu all over again. What is it with these DimRat presidential fools? With energy prices and inflation fixing to skyrocket, unemployment already there, and now another ill-fated Middle East adventure in the works, it really is Jimmy Carter II. Do these fools all work from the same tattered playbook? Is DimRatness fated to go down this path no matter what the details and who the individual is?
“Democrat Presidential Playbook”:
1. Massive unemployment.
2. Massive energy price increases.
3. Massive inflation.
4. Ill-fated Middle Eastern Adventure.
5. Single-term Presidency.
Is that the playbook? It sure seems like it.
From pot shots to suicide bombers - a first class opportunity for these people to lay claim on having killed an American or pick up 72 virgins.
yea, this will end well.
Why must Americans ALWAYS be saddled with wiping the ass of every third world country?
The OIL out of Libya is Sweet crude...different than the standard. Far better quailty etc. and apparently is reason for the fuss since it’s rarer than the standard.
Gadaffi and his sons are the same as a few weeks ago, when nobody .noticed.
World leaders want look good.

That could be true but when you factor in that we get around 1 percent of so of our oil from Libya and Libyans have no capability of blocking our oil imports from any other nation I cannot possibly see oil as being even remotely a factor here. Unless there is such hysteria these days that govt, oil campanies and our energy department would be looking to raise the price drastically for a barrel of oil as soon as they feel brawls break out down there. In any event, if oil actually rises above, say, 120 a barrel simply because of what is happening in Libya, then there are far deeper thigns to worry about as we are then letting someone completely manipulate our oil availibility and how much we think we have.
“”We dont get our oil from them but the Italians and number of other European countries do. That’s why Ive been saying all along let Europe handle this mess.””
NATO treaty obligations pull the US into this mess.
And 0bowmao and Hillary get to look like they’ve got a pair.
Unfortunately, more good people get put at risk.
This may be their game plan, after all.
Good Luck and God Speed
No one here voted for Ol' bum ass.
The factor IS THE WEALTH which oil produces.... and in the wrong hands the POWER that wealth welds both to it’s neighbors and the International Community.....
In Libya’s position that wealth never reached any of it’s people...it all went thru and to Gaddafi and his favored administration and family.....with the moderate population in Libya that oil wealth should have given every individual at least a moderate living...if not a comfortable living...instead they have been and remain impoverished. While Gaddafi attempted to build nuclear and chemical weapons.....a threat to every nation in the hands of that maniac!...or his sons.
That was not what I said there has been several fools here that think this little fight is our business, it is not.
I agree. I do NOT want one soldier to so much as stub his toe for these people. They are part of Islam. I do NOT want one red cent spent on them. Would a single one of them lift a finger to help us in similar circumstances? Hell no. They’d pile on and start beheading us.
F’em.
Exactly why I mentioned the quality in my post. :-)
