State Rep. Mark Hatfield, R-Waycross, just handed me a copy of his new bill, HB 401, which would require President Barack Obama to provide certified proof of his birth to the Georgia secretary of state in order to appear on next year’s presidential primary and general election ballots.
The bill has the signatures of 94 members of the 180-member House, including that of one Democrat, Glenn Baker of Jonesboro.
The measure will get its first hearing on Wednesday. Read the bill here.
If you’re a member of the Georgia Ports Authority or Georgia Chamber of Commerce, still attempting to persuade the White House to add a few zeros to that appropriation for the dredging of the Port of Savannah, this is your cue to cut loose an animal howl of frustration.
At minimum, the bill will make for some interesting chatter when the national press comes down to hear Newt Gingrich’s announcement that he’s exploring a GOP run for president.
Hatfield attempted similar legislation last year. From my AJC colleague April Hunt:
“I think the issue with our sitting president has been left unresolved for a significant length of time that people have concerns,” Hatfield said. “But this is not just about our current president. It’s about enforcing the constitutional provisions for anyone who seeks the office of presidency.”
Hatfield’s bill would require certified copies of “the candidate’s first original long-form birth certificate.” Documentation as provided by Hawaii, which has insisted time and time again that Obama was born there, “would not suffice,” Hatfield said.....

If this bill passes the NBC issue will be decided by a back door because this bill allows eligibility to be challenged. Wait a minute. Does it allow eligibility to be challenged IN COURT? That would be the important question. If it is only challenged administratively (by a challenge to the SOS, for instance) then it wouldn’t resolve the NBC issue. But if a legal challenge in court is allowed, the court would eventually have to decide the NBC issue, as long as the person who challenged eligibility raised the dual citizenship issue.
All it will take is one state, and the Kenyan’s truly done.

Eric. Erickson is sitting in for Boortz and I could just puke! He has talked about this and has no clue about barrel and needing 2 citizen parents to be natural born . That among other ignorance , the Indonesian citizenship required etc and so on. He is an enabler. My opinion of redstate.com just went in the toilet.
I stopped visiting Red State years ago. Occasionally they put out an excellent piece of analysis, but overall they are squish.

I still want to know who Congress and the President give their I-9 to. Or are they special? They are employees of the US government are they not? Lets all write to our congresspeople and ask them.

Once this “argument” is established to the glee of the rest of the media, then it’s simple to “discuss” whether 0h0m0llah was born in HI or not.
But...but the birth “certificate” was published already, so they drone and avoid the word “certificatION,” of course. No word is even mentioned about the “certificatION” IS a forgery to start with!
By diluting the issue and never mentioning that the NBC “REQUIRES BIRTH ON AMERICAN SOIL TO TWO CITIZEN PARENTS AT THE TIME OF BIRTH,” the pros and cons would falsely argue about the birthplace instead of the father’s nationality and the fact that 0b0z0 is NOT a NBC no matter where he was born because of his non-citizen father.
A clever game played by trolls as well as spineless Republicans.
We’ll see when some states force 0b0z0’s hand to show his LFBC or he won’t be placed on their ballots.

One of the investigators for Orly Taitz has the name of the person that was returned with the SSN (the one that was apparently born in 1890). They redacted the name in the filings to the court (and made public) to protect the identity of the family members.
