COLORADO SPRINGS - The security guard who saved lives by shooting a gunman at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs has apparently been asked to leave.
In December 2007, Jeanne Assam - working as a volunteer security guard - shot Matthew Murray after he killed two people outside the church. He killed two others the night before at a training center for Christian missionaries in Arvada.
Assam was honored for her quick action. Murray likely wouldve killed more people at the church if she had not shot him repeatedly then pinned him down.
Assam says last year when she told church leaders she is gay, she was asked to leave the church.
New Life pastor Brady Boyd told the Colorado Springs Gazette the report is untrue. "We would never tell someone to leave because of their sexual orientation," Boyd says. "Jeanne will always be a hero at New Life."
Assam gave a speech on Saturday, February 19 at the Pride Centers annual masquerade ball, a fundraiser for the gay community in Colorado Springs.
The Gazette reports she spoke of the pressures society places on gay people.
New Life Church was in the national spotlight in 2006 when Pastor Ted Haggard left after admitting he had had a relationship with a male escort in Denver.
Yes. That’s exactly right. Some may give more, some less. We are to support and help one another out of our abundance. If someone can’t give money they may give of themselves. Tirelessly. I’ve seen that too. We give what we have, what God has given us, and not the legalistic 10%.
1. You said give proof of her lying, I gave it to you
2. You answered me and said it was old news and not germain to the argument. I disagree, it is a case of 2 people's words against each other. One person with a known case of lying versus someone know for their integrity.
3. You then say I cast stones. I have not judged her nor can you post any of my words that say so. Instead you have repeatedly twisted my words and ideas.
4. You say I said "she lied in the past so she must be lying now". I did not say that. You have taken my argument and filled in the blanks with your own ideas and attributed them to me (how very liberal of you). All I said was she has a history of lying. By the way, signing offical government documents untruthfully is perjury, that is evidence of her character in a court of law.
5. You keep posting that your think the truth if somewhere between what she says and what Body says. You have absolutely no proof he has lied, yet you impugn his character. You impugn Brady Boyd without any proof but you demand from others for their views of her being a liar. That is called a double standard. In otherwords you are a hypocrite.
6. You impugn my intergrity by saying I cast stones at her by accussing her of lying. I did not accuse her of lying. I said she had perjured herself in the past which is relevant to this story. I have not said anything about this case in terms of her sexuality, her truthfulness in this matter nor have I condemned her. As far as I am concerned, she can sit next to me anytime she wants in church
R9ebt, you are sophmoric in your attacks. You ask questions, somebody gives you a factual answer, you attack them for casting stones. You are intellectually dishonest, practice what you accuse of others and don't know when to shut up.

Already been said. Jesus did say that He did NOT come to abolish the Law. It is all there. Only that we will not be judged under it.
Did NOT come to abolish, meaning perhaps that it applies. No, not all the punishments and judgements. Jesus did that for us. Yet the Law remains to follow best we can.
Perhaps the story of the widow and the two mites needs dusted off.
Should you choose not to tithe, not to give God what He has asked for, that is between you and He. Personally, I trust God with my funds. I wish more did.
So you are still observing all Judaic law?
Whether I am or not is moot. The Law is. You may not claim that it does not stand, Jesus said it stands. Tithing applies.
No. It is exactly the point since you are urging others to live by the law and not grace. When was the last time that you sacrificed a ram?
Btw, He said He came to fulfill the law.
You gave proof that she has lied in the past, not that she's lying now. You, too, have probably lied sometime in your past -- are you therefore lying now, too?
2. You answered me and said it was old news and not germain to the argument. I disagree, it is a case of 2 people's words against each other. One person with a known case of lying versus someone know for their integrity.
St. Paul would be glad to hear your condemnation of him.
3. You then say I cast stones. I have not judged her nor can you post any of my words that say so.
You're calling her a liar. Is that not judgment?
4. You say I said "she lied in the past so she must be lying now". I did not say that.
Um.... Is that not exactly what you JUST did, in your second point? My gosh, man: please try to pay attention to your own thoughts!
5. You keep posting that your think the truth if somewhere between what she says and what Body says. You have absolutely no proof he has lied, yet you impugn his character.
I carefully noted that it was my opinion that he did not tell the whole truth here. It is possible that Mr. Noreen simply failed to quote him fully. The fact remains, however, that something apparently happened, and for whatever reason Mr. Boyd's quoted comments do not address it. You should perhaps wonder why.
6. You impugn my intergrity by saying I cast stones at her by accussing her of lying. I did not accuse her of lying.
Must we go through this again?
R9ebt, you are sophmoric in your attacks.
I see your temper got the best of you on that one. And yet it is apparent that you cannot even see the difficulties with your own responses -- perhaps "sophomoric" responses are more than is needed in your case.
Where did I call her a liar? Show it...

You're taking someone else to task for not following "the law", but whether you are doing the same thing is moot?
How does that work?
Nah. He's just coming to the realization that you're a troll.
No, because Paul specifically refused to have Titus circumcised and the entire issue at the Counsel of Jerusalem was whether gentile Christians would have to follow the law, particularly be circumcised. Paul won - the outcome of the counsel of Jerusalem was that gentile Christians were not bound by the law and circumcision was not required. Please read the book of Galatians, it covers all this.
And no, Timothy was not sinning when he was circumcised. Romans 14 deals with this and if someone not bound by the law chooses to follow it they are not sinning. Paul just calls them weaker Christians. Finally, no it is no a sin not to tithe. Spreading the Gospel has nothing to do with this issue. Whether or not one chooses to tithe has nothing to do with their effectiveness in spreading the Gospel.
Nope not righteous, however you are apparently devoid of Biblical reference. It’s Ok.

OK, let's quit the games, then, and cut to the chase: is Jeanne Assam telling the truth, or is she lying?
Not angry, but disappointed in a fellow freeper who twists words and arguments.
Ummm.....
"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." (Exodus 20:16)
In case you hadn't checked on that one lately....
And you are telling people to ignore Jesus’ direct words regarding this subject.
What is your resistance to tithing? Do you not feel your church needs your tithe? Do you not support the elderly in your church or families in need locally, or missionaries? Where do you think these monies come from but by tithing?
You trust God with your soul, yet keep your finances out of bounds.
Tithing applies. It shows up in the NT with the churches Paul starts helping him during his travels with monetary gifts. It is important, and proper for a Christian to tithe to his or her church.
I have no idea, and neither do you. But in a he said / she said, I will take the word of the one who has shown integrity over the years over the one is a known perjurer, so yes I believe Brady Boyd.
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled
In context, it appears that Jesus will fulfill it, yet that may not be until Heaven and earth pass. And the Law stands.
I am taking the position that tithing not only applies, it is vitally important to the church.
Why not tithe? Do you love your money so much? Consider, that it is the Love of Money that is the root of all evil. One should gladly give all one can to their church. Why would you not?
