WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi must leave the country now.
Obama made the comments to German Chancellor Angela Merkel in a private telephone conversation Saturday as they discussed the violence in Libya. The White House says Obama told Merkel that when a leader’s only means of holding power is to use violence against his people, then he has lost the legitimacy to rule and needs to do what’s right for his country by “leaving now.”
The comments mark the first time that Obama has called on Gadhafi to step down.

I haven’t heard anything about that at all. In fact, I don’t recall the ‘Russkie hazelnut’ business. You may hear a lot of things on the radio that I never hear. I just read online and see some of Fox News. Sounds strange.

I’ve always liked Gaddafi.
I’ve heard that he loves America & our culture, the Marlboro Man and 50’s music. Americans have always been welcomed in Libya, even if officially they weren’t (during the embargo or whatever it was called). Customs officers were told to let any American in. The media has done a great job of vilifying him.
I really hopes he quells this Islamist nonsense. If he doesn’t, gas could be VERY high priced by July 4th.
If Libya goes down, Saudi will, too. Inevitable.
I am rooting for Qadaffi.Any one that Obama dislikes can’t be that bad.
But the UN has condemned Qadafi too, so there got to be some good there.

As nutty as Moammar Gadhafi is, what he says about Al qaeda he has said before when he was not in a vulnerable situation. He had been the target of such radical islamist terrorists in the past (Post Terrorist Gadhafi).

Obama is bound to blame Qaddafi directly if gas spikes up at the pumps.
Is it any wonder Obama does a very delicate dance around ALL these ‘trouble spots’, as he gauges how much he should say and WHEN? He knows his own Presidency is a boutique version of all of theirs, ‘threatened’ from within.

You mean, all that was necessary to “retire” Kadafi was to tell him to step down. Now, why didn’t the other President’s think to do that.
