Scientists warn of link between dangerous new pathogen and Monsantos Roundup
Rady Ananda, Contributing Writer
A plant pathologist experienced in protecting against biological warfare recently warned the USDA of a new, self-replicating, micro-fungal virus-sized organism which may be causing spontaneous abortions in livestock, sudden death syndrome in Monsantos Roundup Ready soy, and wilt in Monsantos RR corn.
Dr. Don M. Huber, who coordinates the Emergent Diseases and Pathogens committee of the American Phytopathological Society, as part of the USDA National Plant Disease Recovery System, warned Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack that this pathogen threatens the US food and feed supply and can lead to the collapse of the US corn and soy export markets. Likewise, deregulation of GE alfalfa could be a calamity, he noted in his letter (reproduced in full below).
On January 27, Vilsack gave blanket approval to all genetically modified alfalfa. Following orders from President Obama, he also removed buffer zone requirements. This is seen as a deliberate move to contaminate natural crops and destroy the organic meat and dairy industry which relies on GM-free alfalfa. Such genetic contamination will give the biotech industry complete control over the nations fourth largest crop. It will also ease the transition to using GE-alfalfa as a biofuel.[...]
The confusion appears intentional. Note the name of the site.

“This previously unknown organism is only visible under an electron microscope (36,000X), with an approximate size range equal to a medium size virus. It is able to reproduce and appears to be a micro-fungal-like organism. If so, it would be the first such micro-fungus ever identified. There is strong evidence that this infectious agent promotes diseases of both plants and mammals, which is very rare.”
This is a plant/animal/human pathogen that’s never occurred. Damn scary.
Yes, the GM (genetically modified) refers to, among other things, this Roundup immunity.
Most people don't know that most of the foods they eat, especially corn products, have been sprayed liberally with Roundup.
And I don’t want to curb your fun. :) I’ve just seen some stats on w/men becoming more infertile and wonder...again looking at it from a population control perspective though there are other reasons. I’m probably being too paranoid but nonetheless it’s good to keep a close eye and get it on record.
NB: The site is an activist site but sometimes they’re on track. COL (Ret.) Don M. Huber, Emeritus Professor, Purdue University, APS Coordinator, USDA National Plant Disease Recovery System (NPDRS). The Retired Col was so concerned he wrote a letter to Vilsack.
I've heard plenty of conservatives mock the greenies who've been warning about the dangers of “Frankenfoods”, but food that is meant to withstand pesticide can have very serious consequences for those who consume it. I would assume it could be particularly dangerous for pregnant women. Just try to avoid foods made with GM soy, corn or beet sugar...it's next to impossible.
“This is a plant/animal/human pathogen thats never occurred. Damn scary.”
Exactly. I didn’t want to show the photo from the site of the near-term spontaneous abortion but the numbers have increased.
Very suspicious.
I’m always interested in “new” pathogens and microbes, so read the whole article for more information.
No links to more information on this organism.
If it exists, it would be incredibly major biology news. Probably a new Kingdom of life, as nothing self-reproducing of virus size exists, bacterial or fungal or anything else.
But the author just tosses out some scary information and then moves on. In all likelihood because there isn’t anything there.
Also I know of no pathogen that attacks multiple plant and animal species. Pathogens just don’t work that way. Toxins might, in some cases, but not pathogens. They are by definition tailored to specific organisms or related organisms.
In all likelihood no additional information was provided for the simple reason that the information doesn’t exist.
If anybody has links showing otherwise, I’m interested.
I wonder how the greenie-weenies feel about Pres_ent Hopey Changey now? Same old crony-capitalism with the chemical giants.
0bama has ties to Big Ag? The horror! The horror! LOL!
*Broom Sweeps Scandal Under The Rug*
Not crony-capitalism..
It is Corporatism as practised by all good fascist.
Thanks RD.

A the North American climate cools into the next ice age the fungus that attack the white nosed bats find it easier to survive.
Whoever hasn't seen “Food, Inc.” - that's a good place to start in learning the very evil plan to control the worlds food supply. (In addition, I could tell you how much and how far - this gov’t has gone in setting up a plan to nationalize the trucking industry.
The motto of despots forever: “Who controls the food, controls the people.”

oops...herbicide, not pesticide.
I posted a link at #37. For the record Monsanto is Evil, plain and simple. Stock up on what foods you can folks, the means to protect them, and the means to produce more, and do it quickly. I suggest praying to God for deliverance, because there are forces and principalities at work to destroy not only our way of life, but us as well. Take care and may God bless you all, I pray, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
“We are informing the USDA of our findings at this early stage, specifically due to your pending decision regarding approval of RR alfalfa. Naturally, if either the RR gene or Roundup itself is a promoter or co-factor of this pathogen, then such approval could be a calamity. Based on the current evidence, the only reasonable action at this time would be to delay deregulation at least until sufficient data has exonerated the RR system, if it does.
For the past 40 years, I have been a scientist in the professional and military agencies that evaluate and prepare for natural and manmade biological threats, including germ warfare and disease outbreaks. Based on this experience, I believe the threat we are facing from this pathogen is unique and of a high risk status. In laymans terms, it should be treated as an emergency.”
The letter from the Col. to Vilsack states they’re in the early stages of investigation and he does states it’s an emergency. I’m a lay-person where this is concerned and not trying to convince anyone. But if there’s any doubt whatsoever then the deregulation that Obama wants should be put on hold for (coining their excuses) “public safety” or “It’s for the children”...
