Energy Policy: While we sit on abundant oil and natural gas reserves, prices at both the wellhead and the pump are rising on fears of spreading Mideast turmoil and short domestic supply. But then, maybe that's the plan.
The silver lining for this administration in the gathering storm over the Middle East may be what it's doing and may yet do to energy prices. The average price for gasoline jumped nearly 12 cents a gallon last week to $3.287, according to AAA. But at the White House, that's not necessarily bad news.
Oil has surged to 2 1/2-year highs as the chaos in Libya chokes that nation's exports. Yet among the "full range of options" the Obama administration is considering as the Libyan crisis festers, and the lit match of discontent gets perilously close to Saudi oilfields, ordering the full resumption of domestic oil and gas production is not one of them. Why?
Energy Secretary Steven Chu has said that "any disruption in the Middle East means a partial disruption in the oil we import. It's a world market, and (a disruption can) have real harm on the price." And so, we would think, would the orchestrated and carefully planned disruption of domestic supply by this administration.

We don’t have an energy policy. The only major country in the world that doesn’t have one. This ain’t by accident.
You nailed it. I have said from 2006 that the government’s choice is going to be to monetize the debt. Problem is that we don’t owe the money to Ameriacans. We owe it to places like China who will not find the intentional devaluation of their dollars a “friendly” move. Wars are fought over such things.
The price of gas at the pump lags about 5 or 6 months any fluctuations in the oil market. The effect of the current oil prices will hit just as travel demands increase in early Summer. By then, the battle for the nomination will be on and Gov. Palin will benefit as a result of her energy experience and expertise. The folly of Obama’s energy policy will become obvious as more middle eastern countries lose their foreign workers and thus their ability to operate their oil fields. A perfect storm for Gov. Palin’s candidacy.
Obama only cares whatever will destroy America.
What does he care? He doesn’t pay for his gas anyway.
I just paid $3.65 a gallon for regular in Wasilla, Alaska and thats the average around here.
Soros...disgusting, low life individual
The problem is with my luck the stock would fall and I would lose
It’s $3.19 per gallon for unleaded in my area
Long before it ever hit eight dollars a gallon, what is left of strip malls and businesses will be shuttered and closed. Cities will burn if gas goes to eight dollars. There is one upside to having a violent subclass. They could get away with this in Europe and Scandinavia because the population was so docile. Not so much here in the USA.
Finally gas goes up and my hotrod gets 28 miles per gallon. That 2.50 gas was brutal on my 73 Lincoln Connie Coupe
The higher, the better, for Obama’s preferences.
ok, then a diversified mutual fund.
It boils down to do you believe in America?
The first picture is what he has in mind.
Where he’s from it’s called NDP. He buys his gas from Petro-Canada.
Of course he does. His purpose in life is to bring this country down to the lowest level in Africa
I was in a bad mood when I posted that...
