ROCK HILL, S.C. As Sarah Palin wonders whether to run for president, she might want to talk to people in places such as South Carolina.
She'd find her star fading, and her prospects daunting.
Republicans still like her, but now they openly question whether she could or should be nominated for president, let alone elected.
At a recent gathering in South Carolina, the site of a crucial early presidential primary next year, party activists said the former Alaska governor didn't have the experience, the knowledge of issues or the ability to get beyond folksy slang and bumper-sticker generalities that they think is needed to win and govern.
Many are shopping for someone else. They're looking at Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., for example, and seeing what they call a smarter, more experienced candidate who's equally as conservative.
"Sarah Palin with a brain," said Gail Moore, a Republican from Columbia.

The opposite was claimed by numerous political "experts" here at the time... Giuliani was the man to beat because of his heroic 9/11 image, and "southern fried Reagan" Fred Thompson was portrayed as the ONLY man capable of doing it. Poll after poll reflected those claims.
>> 1. Conservatives werent united and McCain just wrapped up the Establishment GOP vote <<
McCain was dismissed as a has-been who had lost his signature issue (campaign finance reform) and the weakest sister in the "Rudy McRomney" trio.
>> 2. The people that started with less than 5 percent support, stayed under 5 percent support. <<
Huckabee was polling 2% and listed as one of the "Second tier" candidates who stood NO chance of winning a primary. Then he beat Romney in Iowa and the whole dynamics of the game changed and the pre-primary polls proved to be worthless.
>> Romney or Palin Take it to the bank. <<
I'll gladly take it to the bank. In 2000, Liddy Dole was a "frontrunner" for the GOP nomination. In 2004, Howard Dean had a huge lead in the Dem primary. In 2008, people were absolutely certain the Dem nominee would be Hillary, and the GOP nominee would be Giuliani unless Fred Thompson stopped him.
These early pre-announcement polls mean absolutely nothing. Iowa and New Hampshire always change the dynamics of the game. But if you want to accept them as gospel, I will gladly revisit this issue in a year and ping you on it.
Cane looks like he will indeed be running. Buchannon would not stand a chance, I think. Jim Demint is very good too!
anyone who dislikes and attacks Sarah Palin as much as he does is either gay, suffering from Vagina envy or a DailyKos troll.
If you put as much effort into getting an education or working to support your kids as you do looking like a child here then you might start to know what it means to be a man.
you don’t know me. and you dont know what I do.
Who are you kidding? You’ve laid out your sorry life plenty of times here, usually as an excuse for your bad behavior. You are a loser pal...on your way to becoming a bigger loser.
I am going to finish my degree and I will be a meteorologist.
Sure you are.
and my wife is an ER nurse RN. We will have two good incomes in the future.
you are not in a position to judge me. you would be with your mother too if she were very sick. thats why things are on hold.

Is this thread full of flames? I think I can feel the heat before even reading. I don’t want to even read this thread. The last thread I read on Palin/Bachmann had Palinista’s saying the tea party used Palin and Palin was there first.
Are diehard vote for her even if she isn’t on the ballot Palinista’s all 12 years old? Seriously Palinista’s need to get a grip on aisle 7 for clean up of kool aid in there systems.
I like Palin do not get me wrong but some on here are drunk on some serious kool aid.
Bachmann does have a better chance but we need to all come together in the end and rally around getting Obama out of there.
Palin and Bachmann both realize the seriousness of what is happening to our country. Please stop the cat fight garbage.
Palin’s ‘gift for memorable phrases’ is sometimes childish. As a matter of a fact I believe Palin lost Independent voters BECAUSE OF her memorable phrases. They don’t bother me I like the woman but get a grip.
SC likes Nikki Haley. Yes the MSM like to bash Palin but Bachmann has a better chance.
LOL you’re bad.
There are decent freepers who have had and do have much worse burdens than an ailing parent.
You are the only one that I've seen in ten years here who uses your personal problems as an excuse for your vile behavior.
You do it over and over...get a grip and grow a pair.
And do not send me any more private messages...they will be deleted un-read...just like the one you just sent.
And just who the heck is Gail Moore?
Real question is, does Gail Moore even have a brain? Obviously not.
Another idiotic article from the lame brain media to dumped into the trash heap.
Bull..... Most of the SC activists attacked Haley by backing the false allegation of affairs against her, I remembered those articles of those who attacked Nikki behind the scenes - the citizens love Nikki but not necessarily the SC leaders or political operatives......Bachmann is wonderful but she has no executive experience at all,
You people make me sick. Do you really think the Left is hoping that Bachmann enters the race? No, they’re just using her as a proxy to stop Palin, and you guys are carrying their water. If by God she’s nominated, she’ll get chewed up and spat out just as Palin almost did. Bachmann almost lost her 2008 race because of some idiotic statements she made on Chris Matthews’ show. She doesn’t have the poise and patience that Palin has. Get a brain idiots this article is a joke.
Cat fight?
Where is it at?
I don't see no cat fight...except the imaginary one cooked up by the 0bamabot media and their RINO facilitators.
There is no cat fight. What you're witnessing is a manufactured proxy war designed to stop Palin. All of these posters and media hacks kissing Bachmann's @ss will turn on her on a dime. They'll do anything and everything to stop Palin, and they don't care about the conservative movement in general.
Sound right to me.
I know I've ended up with Palin Fatigue Syndrome. She keeps showing up and seems to be a serial repeater, sort of like Hannity.
