Assault on unions is an attack on basic civil rights (by Jesse Jackson)
Chicago Sun Times ^ | Feb 22, 2011 | Jesse Jackson

Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, a self-described "Tea Party governor," leads the most egregious of these efforts. Upon election, he signed into law millions in tax breaks for business. Then, pointing to the budget crisis, he demanded not only harsh concessions from public workers - dramatic hikes in what they pay for pensions and health care - but crippling limits on their right to negotiate, limits on any pay increases and an annual vote to see if the union survives. As if to flaunt his power grab, he exempted the unions - police and firefighters - that endorsed him in the election.

The right to organize, to bargain collectively and to strike are basic human rights enshrined in international law.

For your entertainment -- ofcourse none of this is suprising, coming for Jesse Jackson.

He compares the union protest to a "Martin Luther King" moment -- if a white person would say this, the Blacks would be terribly offended about how he is diminishing MLK's legacy. Of course, he also compares this to the Battle of Gettysburg.

Jesse knows no shame.

Why continue to give this biased, racist, discredited “Reverend” a forum? It’s just going to be the same song and dance, the same rhetoric. At least get some new faces in here and stop recycling these tired self-absorbed idiots who don’t give a rat’s behind about anyone except themselves

MILLIONS, Jesse? I mean really! Did you count them up, or are you exaggerating just a tad?!

Government employees can also be thought of as party apparatchiks.

The real problem here was the adoption of modern civil service laws. In the good old days when your party lost the other party took all the jobs in the government.

With a modern population of reasonably well educated people you could probably do that quickly, and get people of equal capability on the job in a few days.

Tell you what “Reverend,” I’ll take you serious when you can learn how to put to words together.

Good grief, what is it with this guy? I can’t understand what the heck he says half the time. Jessee, get the marbles out of your mouth!

Jackson has always viewed extortion as a basic civil right.

It isn’t a civil right to pick taxpayers pockets.

I’m surprised he didn’t launch into one of his old “rhyming frenzies.” But he didn’t disappoint in tossing a race card insinuations.

No Jesse.

The true “basic civil right” about work is the RIGHT TO WORK, period, which includes the right to NOT have to join a union in order to work.

There is nothing that interferes with anyone’s “basic civil rights” when workers who bargain with their employer as individuals work side by side with workers who chose to bargain collectively. Their actions do not preclude or interfere with the “basic civil rights” of each other.

“satire?”

Sounds like that to us, but I am sure Jesse Jackson is totally serious.

Whenever Jesse Jackson speaks, something is subtracted from the sum total of human knowledge.

That was totally proven when he smeared the blood of Martin Luther King on his shirt as proof that he was that close to him.

A total Charlatan along with the other race pimp Al Sharpton.

The USA is so insane, we can’t tell satire from reality.

“Union rights are human rights?”

Pure insanity.

The right to strike is a ‘basic human right’ but an unborn baby has no rights.
